Or, how about a home near Las Vegas’ iconic Strip? One can buy a home not only near the Strip, but on the neon-lit boulevard, thanks to the ascension of high-rises.
Legendary Living Near the Strip
Interest in living near the Strip is not new. A notable example is Howard Hughes, a wealthy businessman whose initial long-term stay in the upper floor of the famed Desert Inn evolved into his 1967 purchase of the hotel-casino and turning its penthouse into his residence.
Likewise, the allure propelled development of other Las Vegas neighborhoods near the Strip. Among them is the Las Vegas Country Club community. Located east of the Strip and along the eastern edge of the LVH golf course (formerly known as the Las Vegas Hilton), the community comprises estates, single-family homes and condominiums.
Southern Nevada’s construction boom in the 2000s led to new kinds of Las Vegas neighborhoods near and on the Strip — high-rise condominiums and condo hotels.
Vertical Living Near the Strip
The city skyline changed as high-rises with resort-style amenities were built along and near the Strip. Among the first luxury condos was Park Towers, a two-building development constructed by a prominent Las Vegas developer. Located east of the Strip on Hughes Drive, the development has attracted celebrities with its on-site resort-style amenities and concierge services.
The four towers of Turnberry Place soon joined the landscape, offering a guard-gated entry, spa, swimming, restaurant, concierge, and other amenities. Its developer later constructed Turnberry Towers across the street along Paradise Road, south of Sahara Avenue and near LVH.
Other high-rise developments followed suit to the north, west and east of the Strip — and literally on it. They have attracted full-time residents, second-home buyers, and investors.
Just as the size, designs, floor plans, and views vary per high-rise, so do the amenities. Are you looking for a home with a view plus easy access to a swimming pool, spa, massage, restaurant, lounge, or concierge? It can be found on the Strip.
Call a Resort-Casino Home
Just like Howard Hughes, others are calling Las Vegas hotel-casinos their home. Two condo “types” have emerged:
- Condominiums with ownership similar to the traditional condominium concept
- “Condo hotels” operated by hospitality companies with resort-like amenities and guest services, including a rental program that allows for renting of your unit when not in use
An example of both types is in the middle of the Strip within MGM’s CityCenter gaming, residential, and multi-hotel development, where residents enjoy nearby fine dining, world-class spas, upscale shopping and Vegas-style entertainment.
- Veer Towers offers two 37-story glass buildings with traditional condominiums.
- Residences at Mandarin Oriental features 225 residences located on the top floors of the 47-story Mandarin Oriental Hotel.
- Vdara provides condo-hotel living.
Among the other hotels and resort-casinos that you can call home are condo-hotels adjacent to the Palms Casino Resort, MGM Grand Hotel & Casino, and Trump International Hotel.
