Great Parks for Kids in Dallas-Fort Worth

With both free public parks and parks with nominal fees for admission scattered throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area, parents and caregivers have an array of options for entertaining, kid-friendly recreation.

Celebration Park

Located in the suburb of Allen, Celebration Park offers a huge playground, along with baseball diamonds, basketball court, trails, barbecue grills, and more. It also has a “sprayground” — a play area with water elements — for children up to 12 years old. Built in 2003, this park for kids and adults is more than 100 acres in size. The park is only a short drive from the suburbs of Plano, Frisco, and McKinney.

Burger’s Lake

For those wishing to swim and escape the heat throughout the spring and summer, Fort Worth’s Burger’s Lake offers a spring-fed swimming area with two sandy beaches on 30 acres. Burger’s Lake also offers hundreds of picnic tables and charcoal grills for patrons looking to enjoy an outdoor summer meal. Open Mother’s Day through Labor Day, this park provides certified lifeguards and a number of unique swimming activities including slides, diving boards, and a 25-foot trapeze. Admission is $5 for children under seven years old and $12 for visitors ages seven and older.

Meadowmere Park

Located in the suburb of Grapevine on the lake, Meadowmere Park offers a beach with a roped swimming area, hiking trails, and a brightly colored playground for children that overlooks Lake Grapevine. This park is also ideal for activities such as bird-watching and kite-flying, so it draws a variety of residents on sunny days.
