Behind the Scenes of the Coldwell Banker TV Shoot: Day 4

If you watched the first 10 seconds of the video above, you may be wondering what on earth that had to do with shooting the Coldwell Banker TV commercial. I will get to that in a second, but let’s start with the fact the morning of day 4 was spent in downtown Santiago, Chile to get some urban setting shots.

The shot we were trying to get was of leaving for work and looking back towards home to say goodbye. We created quite a scene as we took over a side street and replaced the normal street signs with some that you would typically see in New York City. After shooting from every angle we packed up and were headed out to another home for the rest of the day.

But before we headed to our second venue, Gustavo and I decided we need to capture our intro for the day 4 video. We grabbed a few shots at an outdoor cafe with me attempting to do the intro with only my high school level Spanish. We figured we had something that would work and headed over to an ice cream shop that we were told was one of the best places in Chile.

Turns out the ice cream shop was one of the top places for ice cream in the world according to Food Network. As I enjoyed my cone and we stepped outside, Gus looked over and saw a playground. He turned to me and said, “Wouldn’t be hilarious if we got you going down a slide eating your ice cream?” I concurred with his assessment and so that’s why we started the video that way.

The home we went to next had the best backyard I’ve ever seen. It was big enough that you could have a regulation football field on it as well as enough room for a pool. Simply incredible.

Ironically, we didn’t do a lot of filming in the backyard. Instead we focused on the garage. As I mentioned in previous posts, homes with garages are exceptionally rare so getting some shots of pulling in the garage are difficult. Turns out we actually used the garage for more than just that. We put together a makeshift bathroom in there as well to capture a bathtub scene. Yes, a bathtub scene in a garage. And if I didn’t tell you I bet you would never know it when you see the final shot.

One more day to go. See you tomorrow when we do over 40 takes for one single shot.
