Best Homecomings In Movie History: The Notebook

What sets The Notebook apart is its absolutely heart wrenching, tear-jerking ‘homecoming’ scene of when Allie returns to her true love’s desire, Noah. And for that reason, the film is being featured as a nominee for Coldwell Banker®’s #YourHome Awards.

The Notebook (New Line Cinema) has deservedly earned its place as one of the greatest love stories of the 21st century. Its cultural significance and cult following has sky rocketed the film into popular company like: Casa Blanca (Warner Bros.), When Harry Met Sally (Columbia Pictures), Ghost (Paramount Pictures), Titanic (20th Century Fox) etc. What ties these films together is their perfect portrayal of how all-encompassing love can be. But what sets The Notebook apart is its absolutely heart wrenching, tear-jerking  ‘homecoming’ scene when Allie returns to her true love, Noah. And for that reason, the film is being featured as a nominee for Coldwell Banker®’s #YourHome Awards.

Instead of getting too sappy and recounting every detail of the romance drama (which for avid fans of the film, like me, is easy to do), I thought it would be refreshing to expose a couple of little known facts about the movie.

#1- Did you know: Steven Spielberg was in the talks to direct the movie.

#2- Did you know: Big shots like Tom Cruise and Justin Timerberlake were contenders to play the role of main character Noah Calhoun.

#3- Did you know: It has been alleged that Noah (Ryan Gosling) and Allie (Rachel McAdams) had major difficulty filming together as they did not get along. (CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?!) Now that is some seriously good acting.

#4- Did you know: Ryan Gosling had to wear color contacts in order to play the character of Noah, which is a shame because he has incredible blue eyes.

#5- Did you know: The Notebook won “Best Movie Kiss of All-Time by Entertainment Weekly in 2011.”
