Home of the Week: A Design House for Charity
Take a look at our newest ‘Home of the Week’, which has been selected as the 2013 D.C. Design House. A 35 day long charitable event aimed at benefiting the Children’s National Medical Center
Listed by Martha Apel with Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage for $14.9 million, this massive home in one of America’s most charming and prestigious neighborhoods has eight bedrooms, eight full and four half baths, two gourmet kitchens and a pool you’d want to use year round. The home features multiple outdoor terraces, expert stonework that truly captures that “D.C” feel and a location that can’t be beat; just five miles from the Lincoln Memorial and Washington Monument.
On its own, this home is certainly something special and worthy of attention, but its recent selection as the 2013 D.C. Design House makes this home even cooler and significant as it recently opened its doors for a 35 day long charity event aimed at helping children. It runs from April 14th – May 12th 2013.
The D.C. Design house is a “unique design show house event for the DC Metro area in which top area designers showcase their talents into a flowing design home to raise funds for a local charity.”
Over the last three years, this event has raised an amazing $400,000 for the Childrenʼs National Medical Center. The fundraiser features only one home and over the course of 35 days, 25 high profile designers go in and work their magic in different parts of the home. What results are great designs and decor that thousands of spectators get to enjoy all while contributing towards a great cause.
