Olympic RingsWith the Olympics in full swing, we thought it would be a fun idea to find design ideas from our listings on coldwellbanker.com that represent the colors from the Olympic Rings Flag. (Click on rooms to view the rest of each beautiful home) Each of the 6 colors (yes, six!) has an important significance.

On the Beijing Olympic site, Pierre de Coubertin, the father of the modern Olympic Games, explains the meaning of the flag: “The Olympic flag has a white background, with five interlaced rings in the centre: blue, yellow, black, green and red. This design is symbolic; it represents the five continents of the world, united by Olympism, while the six colours are those that appear on all the national flags of the world at the present time.”

Blue

Blue Ring Inspired Room

We have a feeling the Olympic swim team would feel right athome in this blue room. Talk about pop of color! This bright room has several  beautiful blue elements in it including matching bedside lamps. The contrast of blue to white and orange really works for this bedroom.

Yellow Room

The yellow décor in this room reminds us of a beautiful gold medal. The yellow rug packs a huge punch of color combined with the yellow lacquered side table, striped chairs and throw pillows. The red throw pillow is a nice touch as well.

Black Room

An all black room can be be uninviting, so for this color we decided to use a room where the black accents make the statement! The black accent wall adds personality to this room and compliments the black piano in the left corner. The silver decorative plate on the fireplace mantle is also a nice touch to lighten up the room with some sparkle.

Green Room

Some would consider lime green walls a huge no-no, but with the right shade like the one in this room it absolutely works! The décor in the room is minimal, and the different chairs are perfect. We love how the homeowner decided to mix up the chairs by adding some solid and others with patterns.

Once the games are over and the Olympians return home itis time to celebrate their hard work and dedication to their sport. This red dining room is the perfect place to throw acelebration party! From the beautiful white table to the elegant red wallpaper we sure wouldn’t mind joining Gabby Douglas and the rest of the gold medal winners for a dinnerparty

White room

Olympic Flag Inspired Room

The white on the Olympic flag is the background, so it brings all of the other colors together! This white kitchen does exactly that! Notice all of the Olympic colors in this room! You have the red from the tulips, the green from the greenery in the centerpieces, the yellow from the light shade, the black on the counter tops, and the blue pitcher above the sink! Like the flag, this kitchen brings unity to the room!
