This Home Renovation Makes a Growing Family’s Dreams Come True

On this episode of NBC’s George to the Rescue, a well-deserving couple gets a home renovation that allows them to start thinking of raising a family.

Our homes don’t always start out perfect. When the Cook couple first visited their now home, wife Jackie wasn’t so sure. It seemed a bit messy to her. But, her husband Jack was able to see what could be. He saw it had great potential to become their family home, a place where they could raise children and grow.

Unfortunately, those dreams of starting a family seemed to be trumped by mounting house projects. That’s when George Oliphant of NBC’s George to the Rescue arrives on the scene to volunteer a helping hand to the couple that is always volunteering their own. The goal? To help make the Cook’s home into the family space Jack first saw.

And the rescue could not have happened to a more deserving couple. For the Cook couple, giving back is an important part of feeling at home. Jackie, a special ed teacher and Jack, a NYC firefighter, like to give back to their community through working at the volunteer fire department and local dog rescue.

For Jack, home is a place to relax and “not worry about the bell going off” like in the firehouse. But, we think this surprise home renovation was a ringing success.
