The story on Larry Ellison is amazing!  Maybe we should send him an invitation to visit our marketplace!

The story on Larry Ellison is amazing!  Thinking of the best way to invite him to visit (and buy in) our marketplace!

Found the information in the articles interesting.  Thank you and look forward to reading more.

After reading the unique design article of the 2 family home
in Ottawa Canada and the unique collection of homes of Larry Ellison, I found
the articles to be just that unique. I love homes and think if I had it to do
all over again; I would become an architect so these articles were interesting
and what I would consider great conversation pieces, especially for the Real
Estate Expert.  What I found useful and
helpful and for all the Realtors out there who do not have Bob Williams for
your mentor and Manager, informative are the videos beneath the video about the
Larry Ellison properties. One I will save to share with sellers with
unrealistic expectations of the market is titled, Are Home Sellers Selling to
Fast? Not quite sure if the short video answered that question to satisfaction
but it is straight forward and relays solid information so our sellers may be
able to make informed decisions instead of heartfelt decisions with regards to
    their asking price.

Thanks for another great blog. Fun and interesting assortment of stories. Gaddafi’s tax free NJ Mansion – goes into my “are you kidding me” files.

    • http://coldwellbanker.com david_marine

Tim – I completely agree! Couldn’t believe it either when I saw that article about Gaddafi.

  • Debbie Brzezynski

Gaddafi owns property in Englewood Cliffs?  Who Knew?!?

    Ok, glass houses are awesome!

  • Hmslr

I think Larry Ellison needs to check out the photo gallery of glass houses.  You know what they say about people who live in glass houses though.
I would guess that we could find him something in Bucks County that would pique his interest.  Happy to interview to be his Realtor.

  • Nancy Schafer

Unbelievable that a dictator like Gaddafi would own real estate in the United States, let alone New Jesery!  It will be interesting what happens to this property now that he is out of power.

I found all the articles to be interesting, but in particular the article about the architectural design in Ottawa Canada.  What real estate company other than Coldwell Banker who harnesses information related to the real estate industry into a quick easy access, at the click of a mouse into something like….BLUE MATTER?  Thanks!

    • http://www.facebook.com/davidmarine David Marine

Thanks so much for the comment Carol! Happy to hear you enjoy the posts.

There are some really great tips found here on this video blog.  One thing I especially want to note is the statistic that 80% of buyers are looking for a move in ready home.  With today’s busy lifestyle buyers have a enough to do when deciding to move so landscaping, painting and fixing up homes is not high on home buyers lists.  This should speak volumes to sellers out there that a little effort in the beginning can help sell your home faster and for more money.

  • Realtorwalsh

Very European concept.  Certainly affords the opportunity for buyers to own their house when the costs are keep much lower.  I love the idea!

  • K Tinsman

I did not know that Gaddafi owned property in New Jersey. Who was his agent?  I don’t think I could handle that transaction, can you imagine the what the phone conversations would be like while negotiating?
Interesting article, I enjoyed all three articles, thank you. Kyle Tinsman

These “Real Estate Headlines for the End of October” all seem to fit in with the theme of Halloween:…
Some creepy things (Gaddafi owning property in the USA),
Some fantasies of another life ( Ellison’s huge homes collected all over the country),
Old-fashioned rock candy treats…great to look at- tough to actually “eat” or “live in”… (glass houses),
And…..everyone’s favorite trick or treat location….two homes in one spot…to easily increase the candy heist (two homes built so beautifully on one lot).

Thanks for the posts…all good reads.  Will definitely be back for more!

Love this comment. Nicely done Alice!

Very interestling article. For those of us who enjoy great design I suggest you subscribe to Dwell Magazine. A fellow agent, John Suchy, introducted me to the magazine and I am so pleased he did! I pass on my ‘old’ copies to clients.

  • http://www.facebook.com/rowland.barker Rowland Barker

Very interesting article. Anyone who is a realtor should be aware of Dwell Magazine, A fellow agent, John Suchy, introducted the magazine to me a few months ago and now I cannot live without it. I pass on my ‘old copies’ to my clients as a way to stay connected.

  • J Mccarthy

While creative I don’t think I would feel comfortable in a 25X40 home (1/2 of 25 X80 lot) straight up in a box. It is out of place in comparison to the neighboring homes. Tough resale?

  • Lorraine Gross

An inspiring article on design in Ottawa Canada. It’s quite a deviation from the standard twin. Privacy was certainly considered as well as beauty and function. I would like to see more like that in our cities. I would be curious to see what the construction cost per square foot.

  • E Cassidy

Read all of the articles, they were interesting.  Particularly disturbed by the Gaddafi article.  I remember the news story about the tent.

  • R Katz

I read the article on glass houses that shatter your expectations which led me to the OWS story.   I sympathize with the numerous people who have had a tough time in this economy.  I also believe that the banks have not been exactly fair in their treatment of many homeowners who are legitimately trying to keep their homes and meet their obligations.  However, when I read statements about the” distribution of wealth in this country is absymal”, it makes my blood boil. This is so antithetical to our capitalist system and to the principles that have made this country great.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_G6PHME2MELPFTB62PPAFU7FJPQ Suzanne

I don’t understand how someone lijke that can not only purchase property in this country but live there tax free!

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_G6PHME2MELPFTB62PPAFU7FJPQ Suzanne

It’s hard to believe that someone like Gaddafi was not only able to purchase property in this country but to also live tax free!

  • Susie Stevenson

What a variety of articles..I read them all!  While I can’t see owning a glass house in New Hope,Pa, Laguna Beach is the perfect location!  Gaddafi owning a home in Englewood, New Jersey, must have been terrifying for his neighbors..Did he feel at home there???? Two houses on one lot…hope they are quiet, small people..Actually it would work well for many people now who live together like kids moving back home or parents living with kids when they retire. And lastly, NO WONDER Larry Ellison is recently divorced….I can’t even imagine living with so much going on…..

  • P Woods

    Thanks for the nice article.

  • Peg Clayton

I read all three stories; each of which was quite different.  The one about Gaddafi’s homes in America was quite interesting, for I wasn’t aware that he and his family had homes in this county.  It would be wonderful if the US could benefit from the sale of the properties.  It was interesting to read about such a house in Canada.  The pictures even make the interior look large.

  • http://www.BucksCountyPaToday.com Martin Millner

I loved the looking at the glass houses.  I especially loved the, “shimmering, heavenly glass house” called the , “Mind Bending Razor”.  I am very familliar with LaJolla, and I know that it is one of the most beautiful spots anywhere in the world.  The views were amazing…. 19 million dollar views!  Thanks for sharing.

Great article on artistic innovation, and practical too!

Loved the story on the infill house(s) in Ottawa. Choosing smaller homes on small lots is one important way for us to reduce our carbon imprint.

I read the article on Larry Ellison and couldn’t help but wonder two things: (1) is he preserving some of these magnificent homes for furture generations to admire, like a world museum of fine homes? and (2) imagine what he could do with that kind of disposable income in major cities across the U.S. where housing decay is rampant and so many are in need!  Jobs and housing go hand in hand.  Using wealth and creativity to help the many is far more admirable than acumulating for the pleasure of one.  My last thought . . . I have several magnificent properties here in Bucks County with rich history I would like to sell him!

It’s nice to see how the other half lives…except for Gaddafi!  I particularly enjoyed seeing the Larry Ellison portfolio…thanks for the inspiration to list and sell more homes!!!

Mr. Larry Ellison can come to Yardley or Newtown and buy up quite a few properties from me.

  • A Nanni

I liked the Architectural design in Ottawa Canada…It would be nice to see that in some of the inner city neighborhoods in the US because it would be appealing to live in one. Thank Blue Matter!

Glass houses were amazing- what views!  What I liked most was that the one glass house said that each square foot will cost you $4,946!!!!!!  Wow and we think $200 per square foot is alot!

  • S Wilson

Loved the article about floating glass homes on Laguna Beach and only for a mere $9,995,000. What a combination, lots of sun and sand!

  • K Owen

Thanks Chris…a great and very interesting site that we can use in a newsletter to clients. I especially enjoyed the glass houses and I agree with Marty, the La Jolla home and the area is spectular! And I would be very available to Mr. Ellison”s Bucks County “scout”.
Will definitely use Blue Matter on a regular basis. What would we do without October Fest??

  • Janet

I want to be Larry Ellison’s PA agent!

  • Tracy Mulvaney

It’s nice to read articles about how real estate can be interesting and exciting vs the usual front page doom and gloom of late.   I’m not sure I like poking fun of the occupy wall street protesters, but overall the article about glass houses was very cool.  Thank you.

  • G Schwind

The Glass House article prompted me to search for a home I have driven by countless times in Rochester…the Mushroom House.  See link http://jhjarchitecture.com/MushroomHouse/pictures.html

  • M Finberg

I enjoyed all of the articles above.  Had no idea Gaddafi had real estate in the USA, particularly New Jersey.  The glass houses were spectacular with spectacular views.  Guess you have to be fully dressed at all times to walk around in your own home!
