Welcome to Coldwell Banker Blue Matter

I know what you’re probably thinking: “What on earth is Blue Matter?” Now you may be familiar with grey matter, which my years watching “ER” and “House” have taught me is the greyish nervous tissue containing cell bodies as well as fibers that forms the cerebral cortex consisting of unmyelinated neurons. That’s right, unmyelinated.

Ok, I had to look that whole thing up, but basically grey matter refers to your brain or intelligence.

So if grey matter speaks to general smarts, then blue matter is that part of the brain that thinks about real estate. We’re all born with it. You drive down the road, pass a beautiful house and wonder, “Can I afford a place like that?” Or perhaps you’re watching the news and hear about this home buyer tax credit and consider, “Does that really benefit me?” And I’m sure you’ve found yourself on a midweek evening suffering through the lack of quality TV programming which leads your fingers to start browsing through house values online.

That’s the blue matter working.

As odd as it may sound, the 104-year old real estate brand that is Coldwell Banker has entered the blogging realm. We’re here not to toot our own horns or persuade you to work with one of our local real estate companies (we wouldn’t mind if you did though), but rather to offer some insight, perspective and real estate knowledge to help those pursuing the American dream of home ownership so you can be equipped with the information you need about today’s (and tomorrow’s) real estate environment.

You’ll be getting insight from an industry leader in Coldwell Banker CEO, Jim Gillespie; a marketing view of real estate from SVP of Marketing, Mike Fischer; an unique generational perspective from Gustavo Gonzalez; and real estate consumer specialist, Diann Patton.

It’s a real estate blog with the real estate customer in mind. And yes, that pun was intended. So with that I welcome you to Coldwell Banker Blue Matter.

Husband. Father. Socializer. Mets Lifer. TV Aficionado. Consumer Engager.

David Marine is the Chief Marketing Officer at Coldwell Banker, where he oversees the brand’s marketing efforts and content strategy including acting as managing editor for the Coldwell Banker blog and heading up video production efforts. While CMO by day, David runs a three ring circus at night as he is the father of 4 boys. He also happens to be married to Wonder Woman. True story.

    Hello David,

Just a note to let you know that when I click on the link above "Coldwell Banker Blue Matter" in your post, that it takes me to several different websites. None of which are Coldwell Banker Blue Matter.

Also, just to let you know, I truly enjoyed your presentation at the Rialto theater in downtown Atlanta yesterday. I was glad to hear that Coldwell Banker is now supporting agents who use social media for business purposes as well as personal. I had already implemented many of your suggestions from yesterday when I first joined FaceBook but you gave me a few new ideas to work on such as the Locations page on YouTube. I am a bit camera shy but I will definitely try to get onboard with this new media.

    Thanks again,

    Christy Jansen

    Hi David,

It already has made a difference. I have been working Face Book for about a year now laying down the foundation of being the trusted Real Estate professional with in my SOI on Face Book. I got a client that wanted to buy within the first month or so and now I have another person wanting me to list their home as of yesterday. I got some new ideas from you at the conference and I hope that will help me to expand my business. Thanks again.

It's good the see the larger, well established companies jumping into blogger – makes A LOT of sense from a PR perspective, branding, and connecting with your audience.
