Popular photo-sharing app Instagram is more than a source of entertainment — it’s also a source of endless design inspiration. Since so many designers, bloggers, and other creatives maintain active accounts, Instagram is especially useful when looking specifically for design ideas. Many NYC-based users offer gorgeous images you can use as a starting point when it comes to gathering inspiration for your own space. Here are some notable examples.

Heather Clawson

Heather Clawson is a book author, designer, and the blogger behind Habitually Chic. She resides on the Upper East Side of New York, and her Instagram account reflects the most charming aspects of this neighborhood. She posts pictures of the beautiful old architecture, the gorgeous front doors and stoops, her own classic and elegantly decorated apartment, and more. There’s plenty of New York City design inspiration to be drawn from Clawson’s account.

Katie Armour

Katie Armour is co-founder and editorial director of the online publication Matchbook, and her Instagram account is just as charming as her magazine. Until recently, Armour lived on the Upper East Side and posted many beautiful images of this area. Warren’s style is more on the preppy, Palm Beach side, providing a great juxtaposition to Armour’s edgier sensibilities. Kapito Muller Interiors

Kapito Muller Interiors is a New York City–based interior design firm whose Instagram is full of fun design inspiration. You’ll get a peek at the fabrics and color schemes that the firm’s designers are using in their projects, as well as a look at the pretty vignettes that the two style, and glimpses of their gorgeous work spaces. The two women who run the firm have incredibly fresh, feminine taste, and it’s very inspiring to get a peek into the minds of a great interior design team.

Note To Sarah

One last must-follow Instagram account is Note to Sarah, which showcases the photos of NYC-based Sarah Tolzmann. Each one of Tolzmann’s posts is like a pretty little piece of art, whether it’s a shot of her stylish apartment or a beautiful Central Park scene. Seeing New York City through Tolzmann’s eye is both a treat and an inspiration.
