With winter in full swing, it can be hard to work up the motivation to leave your warm, cozy NYC apartment and venture out into the blustery winds and chilly temperatures. It’s perfect “stay inside weather,” which makes it the perfect time to undertake some indoor activities like getting organized! Here are some organization tips to try while you’re indoors this winter.

Kitchen Organization Tips:

  • Go through your fridge and throw out any expired items.
  • Go through your pantry and throw out any expired items there.
  • Take inventory: Have you run out of any basics, like spices, olive oil, or flour? Take this time to stock up for winter baking!

Desk Organization Tips:

  • Go through your photo files. Delete any photos you don’t want, and organize the ones you do want into folders with labels that will help you remember what they are — by date, or event, for example. Consider using a printing service to print some out for framing.
  • Backup! Now is a great time to get a reliable external hard drive and set up automatic backups, so you don’t ever have to worry about losing your files. You can also use an online service like Dropbox, which gives you access to your files no matter where you are.
  • Delete, delete, delete. Go through your desktop, your downloads, and your documents and delete any that are no longer necessary. Your computer will run faster and you’ll feel more organized.
  • Go through your junk drawer — everybody has one! Discard old pens, random paper clips, and scraps of paper you no longer need. Take the time to organize the little bits and pieces using small boxes so that everything is easier to find.

Bedroom Organization Tips:

  • Go through your sheets. Nothing feels better than getting into fresh, clean sheets, so make sure that yours are in good shape. Discard any random mismatched pillowcases or sheets, and any that are stretched out or threadbare. Treat yourself to a lovely new set as a reward for your hard work!
  • Often the nightstand becomes a catchall for random lip balms, lotions, books, and papers. Clean up your nightstand and replace the clutter with a vase of fresh flowers, a book and/or a few magazines, a lip balm you love. Keep it neat and clear to ensure that you get a good night’s rest without stressful clutter derailing you.

Bathroom Organization Tips:

  • Go through your medicine cabinet and discard any expired medications, unused beauty products, and random junk like loose cotton balls. Organize the items into pretty makeup bags and glass jars.
  • Clean your makeup brushes.
  • Discard any stained towels or bathmats.
  • Replace a mildewed shower curtain liner with a fresh, clean, eco-friendly liner — it will make a world of difference for very little money.
