Oh, the times of hocus-pocus are upon us again. Searching for the way of Halloween happiness is as easy as finding a nightmare on Elm Street. It’s a scream you won’t forget!

The North State has it all to bring you goosebumps and make your hair stand on end. On that strange and eerie night called Halloween, all things that move are suspiciously ghoulish looking. Those lovely trees lining the Redding streets turn into creepy oak limbs pawing to snatch your imagination. Peeling manzanita bushes with skin-like bark are enough to get anyone in the spirit of the season. After all, Friday the thirteenth came in October this year, just to prepare us for all the tricks of the trade.

Not Afraid?

Don your masks and cloaks and prepare yourself for a memorable evening full of hoots. Have a shot of Beetlejuice to warm your cockleshells. Then head off to the local Haunt known as The Pumpkin Patch. Don’t let that cute little pumpkin name fool you, there are no smiley faces here. From the moment you enter until the last howl, your sense of fight or flight is at an all time peak. Just when you think you are out of the hellatious maze that is filled with everything that nightmares are made of, Jason appears and runs you into a corn maze.

Still Not Afraid?

If you ever escape the corn maze and there’s another scream left in you, go to the Hawes Ranch and ride on a nighttime hay ride that lasts about twenty minutes. It’s a ride you’ll never forget. Just when you relax and begin to enjoy it, you find yourself in a race for your life. Witches, mummies, and goblins jump up from everywhere trying to claw you off the wagon. It’s all you can do to stay on the ride because other riders are grabbing anything to hold onto for safety, including you.

After this experience, you should be ready to go home, lock your doors, and sit up all night with your flashlight on, or go out and risk it all on the haunted streets where witches, goblins, and zombies lurk around every corner. Why not just join them all? You’ve already survived an evening of thrills and fear. Live it up. Besides, tomorrow will be just another sleepy day in this small North State city called Redding, California.
