4 Outdoor Decorations to Make Your Next Patio Party a Hit

Outdoor decorations are often the focal point of entertaining in the Metroplex. The best thing about outdoor decorations is that they don’t have to be fancy. Find a simple look you love and go with it. Try these ideas!

Dallas homeowners have the privilege of being able to use their outdoor living space nearly year-round, which means that outdoor decorations can be a focal point of any party. Whether you’re having an outdoor barbecue or gathering around the fire pit to enjoy a holiday get-together, add a splash of color or a touch of whimsy to make your outdoor area look special for any occasion.

Floral arrangements for outdoor decorations

1. Flower Power

If you’re interested in gardening, it makes sense to use flowers or plants to decorate for your outdoor party. Rearrange some of your larger potted plants to create a visual flow on your deck, or create a beautiful floral centerpiece to accent your table.

Simple accessories like canning jars are popular as outdoor decorations in Dallas-area homes. Get creative with fruit or other fillers to give the clear jars some interest or paint them in colors that match your party theme.

2. Turn Up the Lights

Metroplex homeowners enjoy getting creative with their outdoor lights, and with today’s LED varieties available in so many colors and styles, you can find the perfect string lights to match your decor. Hang them in vertical lines to create a curtain of light or add some twinkle to your trees to create a magical setting.

If you have a pool, consider adding some floating lights in beautiful colors or change the light bulbs in your pool to create a unique underwater look.

3. Add Some Fire

Fire pits lend any backyard gathering an inviting glow. And although Dallas-Fort Worth summers are usually farm too warm to light a fire pit, you can still get the same dramatic look with your outdoor decorations. Use a small tabletop fire sculpture or a series of beautiful candles to achieve that warm glow without creating too much heat.

4. In with the Old

Wow your guests by upcycling old items lying around your home and using them for decorations. What better place to chill the beer or wine than in an old wheelbarrow filled with ice? Or use a galvanized steel pail for floating candles and flowers to create a beautiful visual element.

Everybody appreciates finding cute ways to reuse items that you’d normally throw away as an outdoor decoration. Place silverware for a barbecue in aluminum vegetable cans painted white (or another color that coordinates with your plates). Drop single LED lights or long-stemmed flowers into wine bottles, and hang them from tree branches.

The best thing about outdoor decorations is that they don’t have to be fancy. Find a simple look you love and go with it.
