I love the fall season, but I also hate it. Raking leaves, seeding your lawn and worst of all cleaning your gutters are all regular occurrences. I can’t stand cleaning my gutters. I’m not afraid of heights, but I’ve seen enough episodes of America’s Funniest Videos to know that they’re an accident waiting to happen.
I’ll confess. I don’t cut my own lawn. It’s one of those things I can’t stand doing. Blame it on my allergies. Blame it on my lack of handiness. Whatever, I don’t care as long as I don’t have to cut the lawn. I know I’m not alone either and that’s why when I saw the LawnBott Spyder, I was intrigued at having a robot cut my lawn. It’s like having R2D2 become my landscaper.
The Jetsons’ Rosey the Robot may have been the first droid to run a home, but Google is trying to bring it into a reality. While the title of this post may have you thinking about C-3PO taking orders for dinner and vacuuming your living room, an article from the NY Times highlights a new Google technology called Android@Home that turns your Android phone into your home’s control center.
