If you find yourself bored with your home, put some pops of color here and there with paint. Be bold or whimsical; just give yourself the gift to be free to be you.

Free Yourself with Color
Don’t be shy about the paint colors you choose. Try some exciting, bold pops of color like purple coupled with golden yellow or cranberry. You can paint three walls with one color and just one accent wall. There really is an endless number of color palettes to choose with an array of earth tones, sheer pastels, and Mediterranean blues. Your local paint store can give you an update on color trends for this year. If you’re stuck on the traditional white, that’s all right, but there are even different hues of white to choose from. To keep whites from being boring, mix the different hues and add some pops of color by going bold with color in your accessories.

Light It Up!
Before choosing your pops of color, create a mood in your mind. Ask yourself if you want the room to feel elegant or warm and cozy. Take the room lighting into consideration and move it around or change it out to fit into your new design. If you are planning on staying in your home for a few years, go ahead and get crazy with the colors. This is your home and it should fit your style.

Do Your Research
If you are considering selling your home in the near future, investigate what pops of color make a house sell quicker. Go on line to see which colors make a house worth more and which ones could drive the sales price down.

Keep It Simple
Stepping out and being bold doesn’t mean taking on a job that you can’t do well. Not everyone can paint. Cutting in around corners and woodwork may look easy but the little mistakes you might make can cost you time and money. Be bold but don’t overestimate your skills. It might be more cost effective to hire a professional.

If you decide to do the job yourself, make sure you are fully equipped with the right knowledge and materials. Drop cloths and masking tape will save you many hours of cleaning up mistakes. No matter how it’s done, though, the end results will chase away your boredom.
