Fort Worth is a thriving city with historical ties to the aviation, ranching, and oil industries. Like its sister city, Dallas, Fort Worth is surrounded by many suburban communities. Fort Worth suburbs offer single- and multifamily residential homes, along with retail and commercial establishments. Those who live in Fort Worth suburbs can commute to any area of the DFW Metroplex by car or public transportation. While there are a number of housing options within the city limits, some locals prefer the tranquility and open spaces that suburban living has to offer. Following are some of the most popular and rapid-growing suburbs near Fort Worth.

Trophy Club

Known as the first master-planned community in the state, Trophy Club was originally a haven for golf enthusiasts or those seeking a rural escape from the hustle and bustle of Dallas and Fort Worth. Today, however, Trophy Club is home to numerous subdivisions, parks, and businesses. According to D Magazine, this community has seen a 90 percent increase in growth from 1990 to 2007, and it’s ranked as one of the top five area suburbs.

Southlake

Ranked as the second-best suburb in DFW by D Magazine, Southlake is near Trophy Club and located off Highway 114. Since 1990, the city has seen over 200 percent growth and continues to see new development in residential communities, commercial buildings, and business offices. Gated communities and well-planned subdivisions are the most popular form of housing. Straddling Tarrant and Denton counties, Southlake is nearby a number of sports complexes, parks, and lakes. With low crime rates, Southlake has been recently ranked as the 15th-safest city in the state.

Colleyville

Another Fort Worth suburb to make D Magazine‘s top five is Colleyville. Located along Highway 26 near Grapevine and North Richland Hills, Colleyville consists mostly of single-family housing with many gated subdivisions. Colleyville homes often boast well-maintained yards with larger lots when compared to other popular suburbs.

Keller

Located Northwest of Fort Worth near Southlake and North Richland Hills, Keller is another up-and-coming suburb that has been acclaimed as a safe city to live. In fact, CNN’s Money magazine ranked Keller as the seventh-best city to live in the US. Locals have flocked to Keller for its abundant recreational activities, which include horseback riding and fishing. In addition to the perks of suburban living, families, couples, and seniors enjoy partaking in classes in the arts and athletic activities.

While this is only a short list of Fort Worth suburbs, the Metroplex’s size and diversity offers something for everyone. If suburban living appeals to you, consider researching communities of interest and consulting with a real estate agent to help narrow down the decision-making process.
