There are few architects as well known inAmericaas Frank Lloyd Wright, and “wrightfully” so! (Pun intended). Having designed structures like the famous Fallingwater home and the renownedGuggenheimMuseuminNew York City, Wright has been able to make his designs meld with both the city streets and natural wonders. Remarkably, two of our top agents have the famous Wright name attached to homes they are currently representing.
We wanted to take you inside the world of Coldwell Banker Lewis–Kirkeby-Hall agent Dave Olsen who is clearly one of the most busy real estate agents in America right now. By now you may have seen the story about Dave’s listing in Scenic, South Dakota. It’s not your run-of-the mill listing, but instead Dave is selling the entire town of Scenic for $799,000.
Does anyone love the Beach Boys as much as I do? I spent many years listening to their music, dancing with my first boyfriend to “Little Surfer Girl,” and I always daydreamed about living the beach / surfer life! As we enter the last month of summer, it seems only appropriate to discover that Beach Boy icon Brian Wilson’s former home is for sale by Coldwell Banker agent, Betty Theisen Placek, where someone will be able to live the “good vibrations” all year long!
This weekend I enjoyed some time down the Shore. Not the Snooki or Situation Shore, but the real Jersey Shore. Yup in New Jersey that’s what we call going to a beach at the ocean. With three young boys, my wife and I enoyed a long weekend at my parents home in Wildwood Crest which is near Cape May, the most southern point of the state. While my mom and dad are enjoying their grandchildren, I got caught up on relaxing and some reading. I grabbed USA Today the other morning and saw that AARP came out with a list of their most affordable places to retire.
The majority of the United States will be under a heat advisory today so it’s a perfect excuse to hang out indoors and read some real estate headlines! With my Starbucks iced coffee next to me and the central air on full blast, here are some of the more interesting real estate stories I have come across this week:
The classic Alfred Hitchcock film from 1958, Vertigo, is one of my all time favorite thrillers. I even have the movie poster of it hanging in my office. So I was unbelievably excited to see this video below from The AV Club, which takes you on a tour through Jimmy Stewart’s apartment from the movie.
A mistake that we at Coldwell Banker see from time to time is that some misguided souls think that we’re a bank. We’re battling with the English language on this one. Banker is the last name of one of our founders, Arthur Banker (Colbert Coldwell is the other one in case you were wondering). But when you see “banker” on a sign, the common man may think, “hey, that’s a bank.” So we thought it was time to deal with this in a humorous way. We approached the very funny team at FunnyorDie.com and came up with a series called, The Truth!
