Cozy Reading Spaces for Book Lovers Day

From Paris to Peoria, here are a few of our favorite places to read a book from real homes listed for sale on coldwellbanker.com.

Books are a uniquely portable magic.” ~Stephen King

With our penchant for watching YouTube videos, a show on Netflix, Instagramming, responding to messages on Facebook and possibly live Tweeting it all at the same time – there is seemingly less room in our busy lives to slow down and read a good old fashioned book. As much as I enjoy social platforms, streaming services and answering texts with emojis non-stop – there is still something magical about curling up with a good book and losing yourself in its world.

In honor of the awesomely random, but ever so important “Book Lovers Day” taking place tomorrow on 11/5, here are a few of our favorite places to read books from homes currently listed for sale on coldwellbanker.com. Because there isn’t a more comfy or magical place to read a book than at home.

Paris, France / $4,995,837 / Listed by Coldwell Banker France & Monaco

Imagine how inspiring it would be to sit at this table each morning with a cup of coffee and your favorite book in hand while a breeze floats in reminding you that Paris is literally at your doorstep. It’s no wonder that the greatest writers and artists flocked to Paris (and many stayed) in the 1920s. This home and city are pure magic – and would be the perfect place to spend ‘Book Lovers Day’.

Kekaha, Hawaii / $4,400,000 / Listed by Coldwell Banker Makai Properties

This gorgeous room in this equally fantastic private home in West Kauai is the ideal spot to read a book after an early morning walk on the beach.

Seattle, Washington / $14,880,000 / Listed by Coldwell Banker BAIN

I feel smarter just by looking at this elegant and sophisticated library. Enjoy some poetry, or if you’re feeling particularly spry – some Shakespeare right here as you overlook your very own piece of Lake Washington.

Montecito, California / $15,950,000 / Listed by Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage

That ceiling! A warm fire. Some candles. Glass of wine. Great book. This would be the perfect every day.

Peoria, Illinois / $1,095,000 / Listed by Coldwell Banker Honig-Bell

If this room were in my home, I would use it to pace about slowly as I ruminate on the great philosophical questions of our time. This warm and regal room reminds me of a library that Sherlock Holmes would love – full of books, a comfy chair and a warm fire.

Greenwich, Connecticut / $12,500,000 / Listed by Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage

Sometimes you want to completely lose yourself in a book, and this room would be a great place to do that . Shut the curtains, start reading and you could possibly walk out of the room 20 years later like Rip Van Winkle.

Marbella, Spain / $19,428,254 / Listed by Coldwell Banker Alarcon

You don’t have to read inside! Celebrate ‘Book Lovers Day’ in style by this James Bond worthy pool with picturesque mountain vistas all around you.

St. Helena, California / $15,000,000 / Listed by Coldwell Banker Brokers of the Valley

Somtimes you don’t want to get out of bed in the morning, and that would be completely fine if this was your bedroom! Stoke a good fire, open the french doors and snuggle under the covers for a few hours while you finish that page turner.
