Each year, visitors flock to Dallas-Fort Worth to take in the sights, the culture, and the abundant opportunities for shopping. With scores of malls and boutiques, Dallas-Fort Worth boasts a mix of both popular big-name stores and one-of-a-kind shops selling everything from artisan soaps to handmade vaquero boots. For those relocating to the area, many neighborhoods offer places to shop within just a few minutes’ driving distance. Here are five DFW neighborhoods sure to delight shoppers.

North Dallas

Residents of Addison, Preston Hollow, Devonshire, and other North Dallas neighborhoods are close to numerous shopping centers featuring upscale and trendy boutiques, furniture stores, and specialty shops. The Galleria — a three-story mall with popular stores such as Aéropostale, Armani Exchange, Juicy Couture, and Nordstrom — is one of the most-visited shopping destinations in the Metroplex. The Galleria is also the start of the Platinum Corridor, a section of the Dallas North Tollway that consists of hot spots in North Dallas, Addison, Plano, and Frisco. In addition to retail options galore, the Galleria’s attractions include restaurants and a skating rink. It also hosts seasonal events for popular holidays.

Allen

Allen, located off I-75 and Highway 121, is a large suburban city near Plano and Frisco. With expansive residential areas, Allen is home to many who commute to Dallas. It’s also home to the Premium Outlets of Allen. Featuring more than 100 shops, this large outlet mall is a hot spot for holiday shoppers and those looking for bargains on name-brand items. Popular stores include Banana Republic, Coach, Tommy Hilfiger, Neiman Marcus, and the Official Dallas Cowboys Pro Shop. You’ll also find shops specializing in kitchenware, home furnishings, and cosmetics at the Premium Outlets of Allen.

Uptown Dallas

Uptown is a thriving, trendy neighborhood within the Dallas city limits. Close to the Arts District, Uptown is home to the West Village, another popular destination for shoppers. West Village offers strip-mall-style boutiques and shops such as Club Monaco and Epic Apparel, along with pubs, bistros, and full-service restaurants.

Grapevine

The city of Grapevine is located between Dallas and Fort Worth, just minutes from the DFW International Airport. With both residential and commercial areas, Grapevine is a popular place to live and visit. In addition to its many neighborhoods, hotels, and restaurants, the city is home to Grapevine Mills. You’ll find plenty of stores for apparel and housewares, as well as outlet shops for popular retailers such as Abercrombie & Fitch and Perry Ellis. Surrounding the mall are standalone stores, including Bass Pro Shops and numerous restaurants that serve Tex-Mex and barbecue.

Fort Worth Historic District

Known to many as one of the earliest frontier trading posts, Fort Worth maintains its ties to cowboy and Western culture — especially in the city’s historic district, which is also home to the well-known Fort Worth Stockyards. Easily accessible from neighborhoods throughout Fort Worth and its suburbs, the historic district is a popular place to purchase authentic cowboy boots and contemporary Western apparel. For example, M.L. Leddy’s is a renowned family-owned business that offers custom-made boots and belt buckles. Fort Worth’s historic district also houses many shops that sell rustic and Western furniture.

Whether you’re seeking new clothing, furniture, or unique housewares, you’ll find no shortage of places to shop in and around DFW. And thanks to the area’s network of highways, it’s easy to plan a day trip to virtually any of these Metroplex retail hot spots. In Dallas-Fort Worth, there’s truly something for every shopper.
