Fall is often synonymous with cool weather, vibrant colors, and pumpkin-spiced everything, but fall in Key Largo is done a little differently. The weather stays warm and pleasant, and there aren’t many trees around with leaves that change for the season. You might be able to get your pumpkin-spiced fix, but in Florida we celebrate fall with a twist.
Here are a few ways that you can enjoy the changing of the seasons even if it doesn’t feel like much has changed at all.
Attend a Local Event (or Two)
There are several fun fall events happening in Key Largo this season. Check the Chamber of Commerce calendar for a list of upcoming events happening in the community. In smaller neighborhoods, going to local events is a great way to meet your neighbors and make new friends, which is a positive thing no matter what season it is.
Decorate Indoors
Just because it doesn’t feel like fall outside doesn’t mean that you can’t celebrate fall indoors. Change the way your home feels by decorating for the season inside. Simmer cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves to give your home that signature fall smell, and add natural elements (leaves, pine cones, etc.) and warm colors to your home decor to make it fit the season. You might walk out to summer weather, but with a little work you can make the inside of your home feel just like a normal fall.
Enjoy Thanksgiving Dinner at The Conch House
If you want to enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving meal with your family without the hassle, you’re in luck. Every year, The Conch House prepares a special Thanksgiving Day meal with menu items like Roasted Butternut Squash Bisque with Cinnamon, Coconut Macadamia Hogfish, and Traditional Sage Roasted Turkey. They also offer a meatless option for vegetarians. Reserve a table in advance, as this is a popular event that will likely sell out.
Throw a Football Party
Nothing says fall like football, so relish in fall fun by hosting the ultimate football party. Invite friends and family over for game-day festivities, themed food, and a great time. If you’re new to the neighborhood, hosting a game day gathering is a great way to meet your neighbors and bond over your shared sports interests.
It might take a little more effort to make it feel like a traditional fall in this part of the country, but it’s definitely worth it. One of the best parts of fall in Key Largo is that you get to enjoy the season with the perks of summer.
