Summer in Vail has become a hot trend among mountain travelers and guests to Colorado. Outdoor activities abound during the summer months and Vail has something for everyone.
Summer in Vail
Known for world-class skiing during the winter months, activities such as white-water rafting, hiking, camping, mountain-top picnics, golf, biking, or simply relaxing in the cool mountain air are popular with guests from around the world. Tourists have discovered our beautiful climate and our local saying, “Come for the winter, but stay for the summer.”
Personal Favorites
Some of my favorite outdoor activities include a walk through our golf course community here in Vail. The town of Vail owns and operates the oldest operating golf course in the area and has some of the most spectacular scenery that all ages can explore. While walking through this community, pack a picnic and explore the quiet neighborhoods nearby.
Another favorite activity of mine is hiking. We have numerous trails on Vail Mountain and throughout the town for visitors of various abilities to explore. This is an outdoor activity that the entire family can enjoy, and it won’t cost anything to participate.
However, one outdoor activity that will charge admission is one of the symphony concerts. Listen to world renowned artists from around the world as you sit and relax in the outdoor Gerald R. Ford Amphitheatre. Here is a tip: Sit just outside the venue in the Betty Ford Alpine Gardens and listen to the music as you take in the beautiful high alpine mountain garden. Best of all, admission to the garden is free and the sound is still perfect.
As you can see, Vail is about more than winter fun. Pay us a visit and see what the area has to offer this summer. If you should decide to make Vail home, or a home away from home, contact me, Chris McDonnell, for more information.
