This show has become an annual presentation held by the New York Transit Museum. George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker

The winter holiday season in NYC has been home to perhaps the most famed performance of The Nutcracker in the world annually. The glorious Lincoln Center show is the personification of New York entertainment seen in the dancers’ grace and professionalism performing George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker. Presented by the entire New York City Ballet company, it showcases all 90 dancers, 62 musicians, 32 stagehands, and two casts of 50 young students each from the School of American Ballet. Toy soldiers are brought to life along with the wonderful iconic score by Tchaikovsky.
Winter shows performed by the New York City Ballet continue beyond the grand performance of The Nutcracker. Andrew Litton, the Ballet’s new music director, has chosen to celebrate the winter season with a tribute to American composers Barber, Bernstein, and Gershwin. Programs commemorating Founder George Balanchine are to be performed, as well as a day of festivities to mark Balanchine’s birthday.
