Las Vegas coffee time is any time. With many Valley residents working odd hours at casinos, caffeine simply comes with the territory in this city that truly never sleeps. Some unique spots around town let you get your Las Vegas coffee fix with an independent style all their own.
Brazilian Buzz
If your home has a Summerlin zip code you may sip at Sambalatte Torrefazione, located in trendy Boca Park. There’s no need to pronounce the shop name perfectly in order to enjoy coffee confections such as the Nutella Latte. Owner Luis Oliveira has a tasty take on his Brazilian homeland’s heavy use of hazelnut and chocolate Nutella. Iced coffee here involves a 12-hour cold drip that removes all acidity, bitterness and leaves a smooth beverage for ultimate enjoyment.
The bookcases, couches, cafe tables with laptop and charger ports and balcony with a flat screen TV all conspire to make you want to stay here indefinitely. Outside, a patio area thoughtfully includes doggy water bowls so even your pet won’t mind hanging out for an hour, a day, or a week. Eclectic local music acts also regularly perform here.
Traditional Treat
For a Las Vegas coffee locale in the central part of town, Coffee Pub plays old school native cool to Sambalatte Torrefazione’s new-kid-on-the-block edge. Adjacent to the venerable Spanish Oaks community and The Strip, Coffee Pub has served its clientele since 1984. The decor is an homage to its origins with serviceable restaurant style accoutrements rather than internet cafe chic.
Open until 3 p.m. on weekdays and 2 p.m. on weekends, this cafe isn’t for night owls. But it makes up for lost time by serving a generously portioned, yet reasonably priced, full breakfast and lunch menu with espressos, macchiatos, and cappuccinos. The good old fashioned house blend has plenty of fans as well, and if you live within a two mile radius delivery service is available.
Coffee All the Time
Madhouse Coffee offers its brand of kitsch and caffeine 24 hours a day in two locations. The original location, situated near The Lakes and within easy access of Spring Valley and Summerlin has a sign posted “Please no outside food, drinks, drugs, or nuclear weapons.” That sums up the tone of this colorfully eclectic Las Vegas coffee spot.
Madhouse Coffee features standard coffee beverages and a Red Velvet Mocha. Sandwiches, desserts and pastries are prepared on-site to ensure you won’t go hungry at any hour—and they have a drive-through! On the opposite side of town, the Eastern Avenue location services the Silverado Ranch and Green Valley Henderson crowd.
Downtown Delight
Denizens of downtown and neighboring environs get their coffee kicks at The Beat Coffeehouse and Records. This dedicated hub where art, music, coffee and social interaction converge has all the bases covered. It’s an art gallery by way of the attached Emergency Arts Gallery space and an honest to goodness record shop (yes, vinyl). Patrons can enjoy fine coffee and food, as well as beer and cocktails after 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
Don’t expect fancy coffee beverages amid the concrete flooring, shabby chic couches and assorted wooden furnishings. But with the beer taps lined up across from the espresso machines, a turntable beside the cash register and open mic and trivia nights, who really cares? This is one neighborhood coffee establishment that marches to the beat of its own drum.
