20,000 homes for 20,000 adoptable dogs in 2015
That is the goal of our Homes for Dogs project that was announced in conjunction with our Home’s Best Friend commercial which debuted during the Academy Awards.
Within just three days of launching our campaign we got word that dog #1 of 20,000 had found his new forever home. Not only did this adorable pooch hit the doggy jackpot by finding such a loving family but his name just happened to be BLUE, the color of the Coldwell Banker brand. Can you say kismet? Meet Blue and his new owners Gina and Emily and find out their incredible story.

Where are the pit bulls in this ad? Pit bulls are the most killed dogs in the USA. Hopefully CB will out some in their next ad..also we are not the dogs “parents”.. dogs have DOG parents. Children and human parents. We are the dogs owners. Just as you OWN your home we OWN our pets
Prefer to think of my family’s dogs and cats as our fur kids. Dogs have souls too – didn’t know we could “own” only and not be family too
I totally agree with you. We can both but language matters. Certainly our homes that we purchase can be a source of great warmth and solace to us so can our pets but they are not “kids” and we are not “parents”. I think all dogs rock, not just rescued ones
To me, ownership implies possession of property. You own your home or your car. My dog is not a piece of property, but she is a member of my family. While I am not her creator and had no involvement in her birth I am her keeper. I think “pet parent” is a perfectly acceptable term to describe those of us prefer to think of our pets as family and not just a piece of property. Property can be disposed of, family is forever.
well then if dogs are not property what are they? they cannot be “family members ” under the law..property under the law is one of the most basic tenets of the Constitution. Owning property is a huge responsibility and dogs fall under that responsibility. The idea that we do not own our dogs means we are only their “guardians ” a very bad idea If you are not the owner of your dog you may not be able to make decisions about them their health care and especially about their euthanasia when that time comes. Ownership is a very important concept as opposed to “guardianship” and it has to be one of the other.. unless you plan to allow your dog to make their own chocies
“Guardianship, a word always applied to human beings, implies equality—the highest and perhaps most noble of all goals in this democratic nation. Ownership implies responsibility. Americans who own dogs need to be more responsible for them, literally and emotionally—not more equal to them.”Slate magazine
It would be great if Coldwell Banker handed out flyers with schools available for people with there new dogs. It would help the new owners and there pets work out any unexpected quirks that might arise. I think it is a great program they are doing.
yes a great idea.. also a good idea to let them know about dog laws in their new area..I assume you mean schools for dogs..
