April in New York City is a wonderful time of year. People are coming out of hibernation after the long, cold winter, the birds are singing, and the sun is shining (hopefully!). Besides the great weather, April also brings many wonderful NYC events and things to do. Here are three fantastic events taking place this April in New York City:

Cy Twombly Exhibition at the Gagosian Gallery

If you are a fan of the arts, you won’t want to miss the Cy Twombly exhibition at the Gagosian Gallery on Madison Avenue. The exhibition runs from April 23rd to June 20th, and will feature some never before seen works by Twombly. This NYC event is perfect for anyone who studied art history or simply appreciates important and beautiful modern art. On display will be some of the later works of Twombly, including both paintings and sculpture. Cy Twombly was born in Virginia in 1928 and became well-known for his abstract, scribble style works, many of which reside in the permanent collections at The Louvre in Paris and the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.

Sotheby’s Designer Showhouse

Sotheby’s, the venerable auction house on New York City’s Upper East Side, is holding a Designer Showhouse in April which will be open to the public. Running from April 11–19, the showhouse will feature thirteen rooms on Sotheby’s fifth floor, designed and curated by different interior designers. The rooms will be decorated using selections from Sotheby’s vast collections of art, furniture, and more. The showhouse will culminate in an auction on April 20th during which attendees can bid on the items used in the rooms. Any design or antique lover will be very interested in attending this NYC event!

Tribeca Film Festival

The Tribeca Film Festival is taking place in New York City April 15–26, and tickets are on sale now. There will be film screenings, talks, panel discussions, and more. The Tribeca Film Festival was started in 2002 in order to celebrate New York City as a hub of wonderful filmmaking. Over the years the Festival has grown and become a major event that many celebrities and film buffs eagerly await each year. There will be short films and documentaries as well as feature films, and literally millions of people will flock to this NYC event. It may be crowded but it is sure to be an exciting and unforgettable event.
