2015 Holiday Gift Guide: What to Buy for Newlyweds

These gift ideas are perfect to wrap up in bows for those who just tied the knot!

The holidays are always an exciting time of year, but as a recent newlywed, my enthusiasm for the season is totally amplified this year. It’s in part, obviously, because I get to spend Christmas with my new husband, but it’s also because our apartment has really started to feel like home. After the wedding and honeymoon we set up our kitchen with all of our new flatware, appliances, etc. and what once felt like a room full of hand-me-downs is finally starting to feel like ours.

If you’re shopping for newlyweds this holiday season, here are gift ideas that will help make their house feel like home.

Give Their Holiday Spirit a Jolt!
Whether it’s their favorite way to start their mornings or an after-dinner treat when guests are over, this Nespresso machine is a great gift for coffee-loving newlyweds. It doesn’t take up much counter space and makes delicious cafe-style coffee, lattes, or espresso in a matter of seconds. Bonus points if you spring for the one with the milk frother (spoiler alert: it’s totally worth it).

Keep Them Warm {When the Weather Outside is Frightful}
A gorgeous throw is a super stylish addition to any newlyweds’ current home decor. We were recently gifted this one (in charcoal) and it just may be the coziest thing we now own.

Dash Away, Dash Away, Dash Away All!
When the honeymoon is over, it’s always nice to have another adventure to look forward to. Help them out with an airline gift card so they can start planning that 1 year anniversary trip!

Eggnog for Two

Help the newlyweds toast to a beautiful holiday season together with these gorgeous glasses etched in “his” and “hers.” {I love that kate spade also offers the set in “hers & hers” and “his & his!”}

Give the Gift of Guac

File a molcajete under one of those “wish I had it in my kitchen but probably wouldn’t think to go buy it for myself” type things.. which obviously translates into an awesome gift idea! This is great for couples who love to stay in and cook together — and pretty much guarantees you can count on fresh homemade guac next time you visit. See? Win-win.

  1. Aloha Alexandra,
    Nice article, and great to see you back in action.
    When we were married we were given a tangerine tree that is happily in our backyard and each year at this time it is loaded with delicious fruit.
    It brings back fond memories of our wedding day and the friend who is no longer with us.
    Aloha from Kauai, Hawaii
