In our household, dogs rule. We have two adopted dogs in our home: a standard poodle and a golden doodle — both came from pet adoptions. They are a part of our family and contribute to making our house a home. Not all dogs are so lucky. Every year between six and eight million dogs and cats enter shelters, and over three million healthy shelter pets are never adopted.
Homes for All
In 2015, Coldwell Banker Homes started their “Homes for Dogs” project. The goal that year was to find homes for 20,000 dogs. It featured a TV commercial that showed every-day dogs waiting for their owners to come home safe and sound. Working together with Adopt-a-Pet.com, the initial goal of 20,000 adoptions was reached in the first nine months of the campaign. Since that time, not only has Coldwell Banker found homes for thousands of humans, our partnership with Adopt-a-Pet has helped to find perfect homes for canines every day.
Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show host Roger Caras famously said, “Dogs are not our whole life, but they make our lives whole.” Studies have shown that the link between humans and dogs is far greater than just the companionship they provide each other. Anyone who owns a dog knows what this means. It is that feeling you get when you walk in the door after a long day at work or school, and your faithful furry friend is there to greet you with unconditional love. The feeling is mutual, spending time with your dog, petting and cuddling them, releases hormones that help us feel more relaxed and stress free.
National Pet Adoption Weekend
Coldwell Banker’s Homes for Dogs project is in its third year now, and at Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage in Riverside, we are excited to be actively participating this year. Across the country, Coldwell Banker offices are celebrating with a National Pet Adoption Weekend September 9th and 10th, 2017. In Riverside, we will be working together with the Mary S. Roberts Pet Adoption Center to host an event at our office where we hope to help find fur-ever homes for dogs in Riverside. The Mary S. Roberts Pet Adoption Center is our local Adopt-a-Pet partner. Our office will be working together with volunteers from the center to create a fun adoption and donation weekend. If you can’t adopt a pet right now, come join us anyway and bring a donation for the Mary S. Roberts Pet Adoption Center. A list of items that they need to help run the shelter can be found here.
Hosting this pet adoption event at our office, where our company has been since Sam Armstrong started the business in 1963, makes this an even more meaningful event. Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage has a rich history of helping families find their homes in Riverside, and now we’re taking it one step further to help homeless dogs find a place to call home. Office Manager Shannon Salazar and the agents who will be volunteering at the event look forward to helping our furry friends find someone to love. Finding someone to love is the theme of the Coldwell Banker 2017 Homes for Dogs campaign. This year’s “Somebody to Love” TV Commercial shows that “the difference between a house and a home is love.”
Join us at our Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage office to find your somebody to love on September 9th and 10th from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. We’re located at 6809 Brockton Avenue in the heart of Riverside. Whether you’re coming to find your fur-ever companion, or are stopping by to deliver donations for the shelter, we look forward to seeing you.
