Homes for Dogs Project in Riverside a Success!

Over the weekend of September 9 and 10, Coldwell Banker offices across the country participated in a National Homes for Dogs Project adoption event. Coldwell Banker Residential Riverside is proud to have been a contributing office to the success of this effort. Working together with our Adopt-A-Pet partner in Riverside, the Mary S. Roberts Pet Adoption Center, we hosted an event at our offices in the heart of Riverside. Volunteers from our office worked closely with adoption volunteers from the Mary S. Roberts Center creating a fun event that included dogs, food, music, donations, and adoptions.

Shelter Benefits from Help

We are excited to announce that we were able to find loving homes for 10 dogs, and one cat! In addition, we collected over $500 worth of much needed supply donations for the Mary S. Roberts Pet Adoption Center. It is surprising what it takes to keep a safe environment open for lost or abandoned animals. It is not just about food and shelter. They also need cleaning supplies, old newspapers, dog toys, collars and leashes, and so much more. We are grateful to all of the people who participated in our event by bringing in donations of supplies to help the Mary S. Roberts Center with all they do for our community and pets in need. Pets Find Furever Homes

Our two-day event was a success thanks to the volunteers we had working hard to make it happen. The Coldwell Banker Residential Riverside office stepped up to help out in more ways than one. Not only volunteering time at the event, but also distributing over 1,000 door hangers in neighborhoods announcing the event, and also donating supplies to the event, as well as to the pet center. The Mary S. Roberts volunteers were a joy to work with, bringing us some adorable candidates for adoption. We had seven dogs adopted on Saturday, and an additional three found homes on Sunday. There were a variety of dogs here at all times: cute little dogs like Nim, a terrier mix, and Kono, a Chihuahua mix, and bigger dogs like Lien, a bloodhound mix. Each day there were very happy families leaving our event with lucky dogs who had found new homes.

The goal of the Homes for Dogs Project is to help facilitate 20,000 adoptions through our Coldwell Banker affiliated offices nationwide. This National Pet Adoption Weekend helped raise awareness of the fact that adopting your next pet is a great option. Every year between six and eight million dogs and cats enter shelters, and over three million healthy shelter pets are never adopted. It was heartening to hear people say that, although they may not be ready to adopt a pet right now, they now know where they can go locally to find their next dog or cat. Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage has a rich history of helping families find their homes in Riverside; it was nice to take this weekend to help homeless dogs find their furever homes in Riverside.
