Now is the Time to Get Your Air Conditioning Serviced

Don't wait for summer. Now is actually the time to get your home's air conditioning unit serviced to make sure it's ready for those dog days ahead.

When you’re a homeowner there are so many things you forget to do until they’re broken. One of the worst things you can overlook is maintaining the heating and cooling aspects of your home. I’ve woken up many a morning to no heat or no air conditioning, but yet I still forget to make this maintenance a regular ritual for my home’s upkeep.

Spring is the perfect time to have your air conditioning unit serviced, especially if you have central air in your home. It’s imperative to have your air conditioning unit cleaned and serviced at least once a year before the hot summer months come. Not only will it help keep your home cool, but it also knocks a few dollars off  your energy bill as your system will run more efficiently and use less energy.

So what should you ask for in your air conditioning maintenance service? Angie’s List states that it “should include checking the motor, blower, drain line, coils, operating pressures and temperatures, the return and supply lines, refrigerant levels, and connections.”

Sounds like a lot of work, but I’ve found that this type of work typically costs around $100. If you’ve ever had to call a plumber to fix some aspect of your home’s heating system, this price sounds like a bargain.

Whatever the cost may be the key is to get this work done now! Don’t wait for the humidity and heat of summer. To find an air conditioning service in your area, check out Angie’s List.

  1. Completely agree David, many people have been lulled into a comfort zone here in Fort Worth. I recently called an HVAC contractor as my unit was not cooling like it should was amazed how fast they got here. The AC tech they have not gotten busy yet. Thanks again for the information.
