A journey back to earth from the dark edges of space is overwhelmingly viewed as the greatest coming home scene in movie history according to our readers. Apollo 13 launched a commanding lead early and held on to the top spot in our Oscar season poll.

With over 2,000 consumers participating, the historical film was able to more than double the second place scene which was from The Wizard of Oz. The biggest surprise for me was the fact that the homecoming in Home Alone finished dead last. Really? Such a great film and great scene. Oh well.
