Coldwell Banker Chandler Barton Spirit Award

The late Jerry McMahan, owner of Coldwell Banker McMahan

Named after Chandler Barton, former president and chief executive officer of Coldwell Banker Real Estate from 1989 to 1996, this accolade honors a sales associate, manager, broker or owner who exemplifies the legendary “can do” attitude of Chandler Barton. Barton passed away in 2017, but his ongoing legacy leaves a lasting impression on the Coldwell Banker network, inspiring them to overcome obstacles and achieve goals.

McMahan chose to affiliate with Coldwell Banker Real Estate 27 years ago and grew his Kentucky and Southern Indiana “Chairman’s Circle” company into nine offices with over 220 agents across the two states. McMahan loved the real estate industry and helping his agents succeed. He passed away in April of 2018 following a short battle with cancer. McMahan demonstrated a profound sense of professionalism and never hesitated to give his agents the tools they needed to succeed. He created a program at his company where a portion of every closed transaction would be given to charity and his agents have vowed to preserve this practice in his name. McMahan embodied true leadership – his family continues his legacy and the business he worked to build.

Coldwell Banker Hero of the Year Award

Michelle McLean, Coldwell Banker Bain

The Coldwell Banker brand is known worldwide for its charitable efforts. The brand and network support the efforts of a seemingly limitless number of diverse organizations ranging from Adopt-a-Pet.com, Habitat for Humanity, Toys for Tots and hundreds of localized programs. The Coldwell Banker Hero of the Year award honors one individual, office, or company who takes great pride in giving back and ensuring that those in need have a trusted advocate for a brighter future.

Before McLean began her career in real estate, she ran Peace Out, a local non-profit in Tacoma, Washington that taught teens the importance of philanthropy and connected individuals with community causes that ignited their passions. She looked for ways to continue collaborating with her community when she joined Coldwell Banker Bain. McLean became involved with the Billy Ray Shirley Foundation, My Purple Umbrella, Tacoma Narrows Rotary and Northwest Furniture Bank. But her work didn’t stop there. When she met a family of two grandparents and seven grandchildren who were in need of massive home repairs, McLean mobilized over 500 people to completely remodel the home and help the family achieve their dream home. McLean’s coordination and compassion inspired her colleagues, and she truly serves as a hero in her community.
