Don your gay apparel and gather up some tips for selling your home. ‘Tis the season for festive family gatherings, twinkling lights, and yuletide treats, and it’s also an ideal time for selling your home. The holiday season isn’t typically considered the best time of year for putting a home on the market. But there are some ways to move your home fast this time of year. Give some of these ideas a try.

1. Embrace the season.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year, so show it in your home decor. An ornate wreath gracing the front door or whimsical stockings adorning the fireplace will set a cozy, festive tone. While you want to spread some holiday cheer with your decor, be cautious not to overdo it. A few well-placed seasonal items will go a long way. If you’re in need of some new holiday decorations, check out the Texas Christkindl Market in Arlington. It’s one of the largest open-air holiday markets in the Southwest.

2. Kick your curb appeal up a notch.

Winter in North Texas means leaves … lots of them. Keep them out of your yard and clean your home’s gutters as well. Should the Dallas area get hit with snow or ice (it happens more often than you might think!), be sure to keep prospective buyers’ safety in mind by clearing sidewalks and stairs of any accumulated winter precipitation. And if your home could use a new paint job, now’s the time to do it.

3. Price it to sell.

This tip is likely one you’ve heard before, but it’s especially true if you want to move your home over the holidays: Aim to price it low for the market. It’s a sure way to make buyers feel merry and it increases your chances of getting an offer quickly.

4. Make sure your photos are topnotch.

Here’s one of those tips for selling your home that applies all year long: Take topnotch photos. Most prospective buyers start their house hunting online, so give them high-quality, flattering pictures to browse through. If possible, show them what your home looks like in the sunny summer months as well.

The holidays are a joyous, busy time of year, and selling your home could make the season even brighter. Just try a few of the tips mentioned above to make your home as appealing as possible. And relax … if the holiday season comes and goes without an offer, the New Year is just around the corner.
