Viggle is the Perfect Companion for Your Home’s TV Room

The couch in front of the TV. It's one of life's great comfort zones. You know the spot. It's where your body perfectly relaxes as you sit down and tune in to your favorite TV show or movie. Chances are when you get situated in your favorite seat that you're also carrying a device with you. For some it may be your phone. For other it's a tablet (most likely an iPad). And others still like the laptop open as they prop their feet up. Yes, our homes are more connected than ever and some apps are trying to make our relaxation time a little more rewarding. The best one in my opinion is Viggle.

There are a ton of TV companion apps out there. Some let you take quizzes during shows. Some give you fake stickers that you can never really use. Some let you chat with others about the show. And some do all of the above. But only Viggle actually REWARDS you for watching TV.

It’s possibly the greatest app to enter my home since Netflix. What does Viggle do? You start up the app when you’re watching a show and Viggle listens to your TV and identifies the show that you’re watching. You then get points for watching and “checking in” to various shows. Some shows that are featured in the app give you check-in bonuses and others have live quizzes where you can earn additional points.

But here’s the best part. The points that you earn gets you real life stuff. Not silly stickers or badges or digital trophies that mean absolutely nothing. I’m talking about Starbucks gift card, Amazon.com certificates, t-shirts, Apple TVs, etc.

Real stuff just for watching TV. Is there a better companion app for the TV room in your home? I think not.

On top of all that you can chat with others watching the same show you are and share your Viggle check-in’s on your favorite social network. Viggle is free to download in both the iTunes and Android app stores. I’ve already cashed in several Starbucks gift cards thanks to Viggle.

If you’re going to be relaxing at home in front of the TV, why not get something you can actually use for it? Click here to visit Viggle.com and start getting rewards out of your home’s TV today.

  1. I would be a fan if they fixed it. The app crashes. The points don’t always come through. Currently the users can be forced out of the trivia if it is too busy, something Viggle assured users was not going to happen. They no longer have the Apple TV, claiming it could come back, but you can get one of their hideous t shirts.

Their idea of addressing the technical issues is to deny the problems exist.

The response from some users is that we are getting things for free and should not complain. Viggle is a business selling the users, and the users need to revolt.

      1. You are one of the lucky ones then. I was banned from Viggles FB after complaining about how many times MyGuy had failed. They have been banning people left and right from their FB – the night I was purged, I think at least 150 people were banned in an hour, the comments dropped like a rock. People who barely had a complaint, just were upset they’d wasted time or never got points from the previous MyGuy competitions (without using ANY hateful tone or words) were banned as well. I haven’t kept up to see if any were lately, but Twitter has had some people commenting (Viggle can’t stop them there) about the bans and such.

    1. Lori, I was a fan since the near start of it. As the gift cards stopped staying in stock, the platform always crashed, I figured the hands on time I spent messing with Viggle for a 62,500 gift card ended up paying me something like .005 cents an hour. Seriously. When they brought out the crappy branded stuff, I knew it was bad. That stuff is way cheaper than the gift cards for more points. With all the daily caps, the bonus points being next to nothing now, trivia not working (including some people who had posted on FB that Viggle had the *wrong answer* on a few of them), to MyGuy messing up – and Viggle keeps saying “Everything is working as planned!” In fact, their one FB posting from January when they admitted the Android users MyGuy was broke for two weekends and they hoped to have it fixed for the other 2 NFL playoff weekends had OODLES of comments of Droid users ticked off because winners were supposed to be entered into a contest to go to the Superbowl… Android users couldn’t even select their first MyGuy. When Droiders got upset, Viggle banned them, then deleted the post because they couldn’t keep up with it. The info webpage still was there but Viggle removed references to it.

Viggle has lost tens of millions of dollars now and apparently they can’t get advertisers. Their stock is down under $1 and getting worse. The app was announced to a $57 share. Each Q they post losses, it’s been cut in half. The only financier/investor they could find… was the owner of the company. GetGlue fell through because Viggle had no cash to complete the deal.

    2. I absolutely agree. If the users wrote all the advertisers and told them the waste of money it was to advertise on viggle. They would be done. Many put the show with bonuses on and hit check in. Then watch the shows they really want. I know alot of cheats and have not been on long.

  2. It has to many issues. Plus the fact that they now want 575,000 points for the kindle fire HD is a joke. They raised it from 375,000 points and no longer have best buy, Lowes or papa johns gift cards. I an guessing that people took them up on their offer of 400k in points to switch to direct TV. Then they used the points to get kindles. Now they only offer 200k to switch.
