An Affordable Prefab Home from Ikea

I've spent many a Saturday and Sunday afternoon trying to put together furniture from Ikea. I've assembled an entertainment center, bookcases, a children's bed and even a coffee table from the Swedish furniture maker. All of these occurrences involved frustration, sweating and the scouring of the room for missing pieces. But in the end the pieces have worked out well and were reasonably priced. So instead of just focusing on elements within your home, Ikea is looking to just be part of the structure of your home as well.

Outside of Akitv Pre Fab Home

Designed by Oregon-based, Ideabox, with the help of Ikea Portland you can now own an Ikea-inspired Aktiv pre-fab home for about $86,500. What this gives you is a 745 sq. ft.  home with a complete kitchen, bedroom, living room and bathroom as seen in the blueprint above.

The interior of the home is filled with Ikea appliances, furniture and decor. It’s safe to say you better loosen up your wrists and dust off that allen wrench because you’re gonna be busy putting stuff together.

Whether you like this concept or not you can’t argue with the fact that this is providing a very affordable option for people to own a home and do it in a way that they can really make it their own. Click here to find out more details at the Ideabox site.
