  1. If your lawn is mown and clean of debris and trash it will surely have beautiful curb appeal! – Erin Bruce, Coldwell Banker Johnson & Thomas Realtors

  2. Another thing that is always a bummer to see is pooling water, over-watering or lawn brown spots – get the sprinkler heads working, uncovered, and hitting the yard properly. And I do love a splash of color, like Jessica mentioned, to just add some visual interest to break up the greens and browns. And make sure those rose bushes, palm trees or any plants needing to be trimmed or cleaned-up, get their regular attention “yard haircuts.” 🙂

  3. I would use the gift certificate to improve the front yard where we have a variety of trees and bushes, but lacking ground cover in this wooded oasis, a focal point in our yard. We’ve tried mulch and bark, but weeds and grass invade. If we could plant a creeping, flowering plant, that might be better.

  4. For keeping beds free of weeds, get out early in the spring and do all your weeding then sprinkle with a weed suppressant like Preen (that can be purchased @ Costco for very little), plant perrenials that will spread over time and fill in with annuals.  Top with mulch and you should have a fairly low maintenance garden.

  5. So much depends on the house, the lot, the current landscaping already in place. Most any home can probably benefit from one or more window boxes. Bring color and life to the facade of the home in this way. Have a porch? Try some hanging planters filled with colorful flowers. Another option is a simple container or two flanking the front door.

If the property has few or no trees, plant some trees! You can never go wrong with a flowering tree. There are numerous small trees if your yard is not large. If you have fencing and a gate, make sure they’re both in good shape and that the gate opens easily. Add a wreath or small flower container to the gate for a very welcoming look.

  6. Sound Advice!
A poorly maintained yard alone can be perceived as a warning sign to home buyers that-
There might be underlying costly repair conditions needed for other parts of the property.

  7. 1st impressions mean the most. flowers will give an instant color bang. make them beautiful but do not over due that people think they can not take care of them themselves

  8. To improve the curb appeal of our front yard we need to brighten up the yard with bushes and flowers.  Spring is here, it’s time to spend some energy on the front of our house.

  9. The first impression is so important so having a well kept lawn and garden is vital. Having a walkway clean swept and bright flowers near the entrance is always nice.

  10. Start working like Michelangelo on our overgrown jungle of a yard is one example how I would use lawn and gardening to give a home beautiful curb appeal.  Sculpt away.

  11. Bright flowers in pots at the entrance door looks very inviting.  Don’t forget to mow the lawn and have all toys and such put away.

  12. Powerwash porch/sidewalk regularly and EDGE the sidewalk.  Nothing can finish even a simple yard more that edgeing the walkways.  It gives it a lovely, professional look for only a little effort.

  13. We just removed 20+ trees on our front lawn as they were interferring with the electric lines and after many years of over-pruning by the electrical company they were pretty much dead. So our yard can certainly use a make-over and we have just started to replant grass. Would love to win to spruce up with a shrub or two, trim the current plants in the front (which are now visible to the street!), help us purchase a tree, etc.

  14. I would have a large old shrub removed that is dying – will have to be done professionally though because it is so close to my foundation and driveway.

  15.  a well maintained yard is inviting to the buyer and says that we take care of out home insides and outside.

  16. A hook and some hanging plants. It’s accents architectural aspects of your home. brings your eyes up which give the illusion of a larger home. Than just cut fresh lawn and a swept porch.

  17. I don’t have a yard because I live in an apartment complex but I have a balcony. I love to add curb appeal by hanging plants, flower beds, and using big green plants to fill in space!

  18. HIRE SOMEONE!  A good lawn company and some landscaping should do the trick!  Well worth the investment!

  19. Save those leaves instead of bagging them each fall! They make for great dirt/mulch in the spring that is full of worms – great for your flower beds.

  20. Clear path to the door and trees, bushes and flowers that frame the house. Well maintained and clean is always a good tip for anything.

  21. Prune your trees and large bushes on a regular basis.  Pruning is important to the health and appearance of your greenery!

  22. Hire Twin Valley Property Management, they have the expertise to spruce up any landscape/hardscape for an appealing sale!!!!

  23. Put flowering shrubs in the front of the yard.  It makes a word of difference when there is a pop of color.
