The following is a guest contribution from Frank Fontana, Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage Global Luxury Specialist in Chicago, Ill.
In my journey through CES 2018, I had the opportunity to explore the latest and greatest in smart home technology. So many great innovations that can make your luxury listing a safer, more convenient and more efficient home with a touch of your smart phone or the use of your voice to command almost any action in your home. But what’s the best smart home tech to outfit your luxury listing to create an edge over other brokers and listings? In my opinion, it’s not one product, rather it’s more of a three-punch combination of smart home tech that will wow your luxury buyers.
We all know first impression are everything, so for me, it starts at the front door using technology like RING. Ring integrates video monitoring and turns your door bell into a high-tech security system that works with your smart phone or computer through an app and allows you to see who’s at your door, speak to them through a built-in speaker and much more.
Once you’re in the home, getting a voice command home system like Google Home or Amazon Alexa that will allow for a full array of controllable functions to integrate with everything in the home from coffee makers and pressure cookers to electronic blinds and window treatments is sure to impress buyers. Companies like Lutron put out a great family of smart home products to work with your Google Home to control the entire lighting and ambiance of your home with a simple voice command.
So, if you’re looking to really make an impression in the luxury home market remember this…the smarter the home, the bigger the value!
