One of Coldwell Banker’s top agents, Previews luxury specialist Sally Forster Jones, recently listed an exceptional property in Pacific Palisades, CA that, according to the listing description, was once the home of Ronald Reagan.
Hmmm. That sounded very familiar. Had I seen this property before?
Sure enough, I went through the Coldwell Banker Previews International archives and there is was…the listing brochure from 1981 on the same house…promoted simply as “The Home of President and Mrs. Ronald Reagan.” And, in 1981, he WAS the President of the United States!
According to the brochure, the property was the home of President and Mrs. Reagan “since it was built for them in 1956/57.” I also love the description of the fabulous Santa Monica Bay/Pacific Ocean view: “from this height, there is a sweeping view by day and night. Known as the Queen’s Necklace,”
The description also mentions that the home was a GE showplace, referencing General Electric innovations throughout the house. Of course, Ronald Reagan, before entering politics, was the host of a popular Sunday evening television program called General Electric Theater. GE today still highlights its relationship with Reagan with a page on its website devoted to the GE/ Reagan connection.
So enjoy some of the photos of this historic home in 1981, and visit coldwellbankerpreviews.com to see it today, as well as other exclusive Coldwell Banker Previews International properties with a view of the “Queen’s Necklace!”
