Coldwell Banker Riviera Realty, Inc. agent, Lucille Gesek, will be appearing on a new episode of HGTV’s hit series House Hunter on Sunday, June 21st. So we sat down with Lucille to get a sneak preview of what goes in behind the scenes and what we can expect from her upcoming episode.
How did you get selected to be on House Hunters?
Unbeknownst to me, my buyers had applied to be on House Hunters. Once they got accepted, they were told their agent had to be on board. Then they asked me and we both had to do a video audition.
What was different about filming House Hunters than what you expected from just watching the show?
What I didn’t expect was how much filming goes into a 30 minute show (actually 23 without commercials). I believe they filmed for a total of 5-6 days of which I was only involved in 3 of those days and then edit it down to about 23 minutes. What I also didn’t expect was how much fun it would be. Truly my buyers and I shared a bond that no one else experienced and this has developed our relationship into something special outside of just realtor/buyer.
Millions of people watch the show every week, what’s the best house hunting tip you can share?
Truly the best house hunting tip I can give you is pick a realtor that is not only knowledgeable but someone you like because that period of house hunting, you are married to each other. I think this really came out in this show because we really had a lot of fun and our personalities definitely meshed.
What interesting detail should viewers be on the lookout for when they watch the show?
What sticks in my mind as a funny scene is when we filmed a bathroom scene where literally the cameraman, the audio man, the buyers and I were in this small bathroom and I say “you can see how roomy this bathroom is”……Of course, you never know if that makes the cut.
The other funny moment but not so funny as it were happening is that we filmed in the middle of a Noreaster so we could not really film walking up to the house because truly we would have blown away and did a “Mary Poppins” with the umbrellas. So they filmed us in front of the door just opening the door but we needed to have the umbrellas opened because it was raining so hard, we would have been drenched walking in the door. It took a few takes of us getting the gist of closing our umbrellas without stabbing each other.
Also be on the look out for the zebra toilet. That’s all I’m saying.
