We wanted to take you inside the world of Coldwell Banker Lewis–Kirkeby-Hall agent Dave Olsen who is clearly one of the most busy real estate agents in America right now.
By now you may have seen the story about Dave’s listing in Scenic, South Dakota. It’s not your run-of-the mill listing, but instead Dave is selling the entire town of Scenic for $799,000. The story has been covered by so many media outlets and has seen the site he created for the property has “blown up” with so much traffic that the site crashed. Selling the property as mixed use – residential and commercial – Dave took a moment to share with us some of the details of the property.
Sitting approximately 50 miles from Rapid City, South Dakota, the town dates back to 1906 (the same year as Coldwell Banker was founded). Included on the property today are an old-fashioned Western saloon, two shops and a dance hall. The businesses sustained three families for more than 15 years. Dave has traffic patterns (700 cars a day pass through Scenic) along with financial statements to back up the claims of profitability.
The property was listed a couple months ago, but since the Rapid City Journal ran a story about it on Monday, Dave and the front office at Coldwell Banker Lewis–Kirkeby-Hall have been inundated with calls.
“It’s been crazy,” he said. “I’m doing so many interviews its crazy. The Wall Street Journa calledl. CNBC is here to interview me and show the property. I does seem like this attention should help me attract a buyer. I’ve spoken with a bunch of different developers already from different parts of the country. The property has 43-acres and the name Scenic is the perfect description.”
Dave even cracked the front page of Yahoo this morning!
“I never expected this to happen,” Dave said. “It’s pretty cool!”
