Experience Fall in Miami Beach

Find out why this heavenly time of year is what South Floridians wait for all year long!

Finally, the best time of the year has arrived in South Florida – the long-awaited, thoroughly enjoyed fall season. In stark contrast to the rest of the country, Miami Beach actually gets a lot more pleasant in the fall, cooling down to the mid-60s and 70s. While people in cities across the US begin taking out their coats and boots, Miamians continue to wear short sleeves and sandals. While the rest of the country spends most of their time indoors, South Floridians relish the outdoors. This heavenly time of year is what we wait for all year long!

Whether it’s diners savoring their meals alfresco, sun bathers soaking up the rays, or people simply strolling down the street – everyone rejoices in the perfect fall weather conditions. After the intense summer heat is over, people can’t wait to be outside and bask in the delightful outdoors.

Aside from appreciating the cooler climate, there are plenty of other wonderful aspects of fall for everyone in South Florida to love. For starters, October marks the beginning of stone crab season. While the season lasts all the way through May, there’s definitely something special about the first couple of claws you crack!

In addition to stone crabs, fall also signifies the start of the farming season for local produce. After the hot summer months pass, the cooler weather allows agriculture to resume and prompts the local farms and farmer’s markets to once again open for business. Unlike our compatriots up north, the fall and winter seasons in South Florida yield the most crops of the year.

On top of it all, there are loads of fabulous events that take place in Miami and the Beaches throughout the fall months. The most notable is Art Basel: a four-day extravaganza that exhibits some of the best collections of modern and contemporary art in the world. People from across the globe flock to Miami for what is sure to be one of the planet’s leading art festivals, featuring over 4,000 artists from 269 art galleries worldwide.

If you’re from out of town and thinking about planning a trip to Miami Beach, this is the best time of year to do so! The climate is unparalleled, there aren’t any mosquitoes, the restaurants are serving the best local ingredients, and nothing beats laying out on the beach in November. If you’re a South Florida resident, make sure to take full advantage of the exquisite climate and all of the marvelous events that take place throughout the season. What could be better than enjoying the outdoors in the most ideal weather possible, all during the fall?
