Jacksonville, Florida is known for fun in the sun. While swimming at the beach is an obvious way to beat the heat, there are some other activities that provide just as much fun. During your next Jacksonville outing, keep in mind these fun ways to stay cool.
Jacksonville Beach
Swimming is not the only activity at the beaches of Jacksonville. Through Kayak Amelia, beach patrons can rent bikes, canoes, and kayaks; take kayak fishing or overnight trips; or take a guided bike or kayak eco-tour. You can also plan a sunset eco-tour kayak trip. If you want to watch friends and family in the water or just want to soak up the sun on the shore, you can rent beach items by hour, such as pods (two lounge chairs with an umbrella), individual lounge chairs, and umbrellas. Additionally, the rental company delivers and collects surf boards, boogie boards, and kayaks.
Water Parks
If the local beach isn’t a good fit, check out the many other opportunities to get wet! Adventure Landing is an all-inclusive water park, complete with four extreme slides, the Little St. Johns River, the half-million-gallon wave pool, Typhoon Lagoon, and a toddler area. Water cannons, waterfalls, and multiple slides round out the park, supplying something for everyone.
Jacksonville Museums and Theaters
Jacksonville has a variety of museums. The Mosh, Jacksonville’s Museum of Science and History, is perfect for individuals as well as couples and families who want to stay out of the heat. With a variety of monthly scheduled events, hands-on experiments, and learning activities, this museum is a good place to spend some time while trying to stay cool in the summer. Alternatively, you can visit the Cummer Museum of Art & Garden, the Jacksonville Maritime Heritage Center, and the Ritz Museum, an arts facility located within the LaVilla area of downtown.
Jacksonville’s historic Florida Theatre, home to 200 performances of all kinds each year, provides options for ballet, opera, rock, pop, and jazz lovers. You can see opera and Broadway shows as well. Movie theaters are also plentiful within Jacksonville. The Regal Avenues Stadium 20, AMC Regency 24, and the Cinemark Tinseltown are just a few examples of the movie theaters in town. No matter which part of Jacksonville you are in, there is always a movie playing close by.
Whether the fun is indoors or out, Jacksonville provides plenty of options to beat the heat.
