Ron Howard Puts His Conyers Farm Estate on the Market

Academy Award winning director Ron Howard places his home on the market for $27.5 million.

You’d be hard pressed not to have a “happy day” everyday if you were lucky enough to call this truly serene and special trophy estate ‘home’. After owning this remarkable property for 20 years, Academy Award winning director and beloved actor Ron Howard and his wife Cheryl have placed it on the market for $27.5 million.

One look at this estate located in the exclusive enclave of Conyers Farm, which straddles Greenwich and the hamlet of Armonk in Westchester, N.Y., which is less than an hour drive from New York City – and you’ll understand why the Howard family moved here from the movie capital of the world.

The estate sprawls majestically across 32 acres and features a pristine lake, lush woods, hiking and riding trails, and private parks that offer up fantastic views of that cool and crisp lake. We’ve always marveled at Ron Howard’s prodigious work on such films as “Apollo 13” and “A Beautiful Mind“, but we appreciate it even more now knowing that he managed to create such art while having a home with some seriously resort-like amenities in it. I’d personally never leave for work if my home had outdoor recreation areas, a working farm, an indoor sports complex and an observatory for my amateur astronomical pursuits!

While the grounds that cradle the Howard estate are unspoiled and spectacular, the main residence takes a backseat for no one. The classic New England main residence offers up over 17,000 square feet of interior living space, features 6 bedrooms, a private two-story library/office, indoor saltwater pool and a 14 seat movie theatre good enough for movie royalty.

At Coldwell Banker we know that the true value of a home isn’t measured by square feet or by the number of bedrooms and bathrooms you have, but by those special moments and memories we make within them. When asked about his home, as opposed to speaking about hard numbers, Ron Howard hit upon what truly made this a special place for him and his family:

We moved 3,000 miles away from the hub of Los Angeles, to raise our family here,” said Ron Howard. “Whether we’re watching films in our theatre, walking the trails throughout our property, star gazing in our observatory, or just relaxing with friends and loved ones by the lake, Cheryl and I feel we’ve accomplished the goals we set when we began work on this place. Our children are grown, so it’s time to move on, but the memories of this very special place will never leave us.”

Indeed, above all else it appears as if what makes this home magical for the Howard family are the memories they all made here. After 20 years, another family or lucky person will have the opportunity to call this estate, home.

I don’t think I’ll be back to the east coast any time soon. But if I did, this house would certainly grab my attention. An indoor tennis court would be a must. Ron, can I come play a few sets with you? I used to be a tennis pro in NYC and I still got game?
