Show Your Ohio Pride at Home

Taking pride in where you live is an easy concept for Ohioans. Between the unique cities, beloved sports teams, and a down-to-earth way of life, there is so much to love about the Buckeye State. Here are a few ways to show your Ohio pride at home.

Ohio is a beautiful state and a wonderful place to live. Whether you’re a native, a transplant, or someone who no longer lives here, the desire to showcase mementos of this Midwest gem in your home is common. While it is possible to go overboard with your decorations, displaying a few things here and there is a great way to show off the state you love.

Here are a few places that you can look to find goods to showcase your state pride at home:

  • Shop Local. Support the local economy while showing off your love for the Buckeye State. There’s no shortage of creative and talented people in Ohio, so finding a good local shop to buy your gear from shouldn’t be too difficult. The Direction is a great place to start. They offer a large collection of merchandise for cities all over the state and general Ohio merchandise in their retail store in Sunbury, OH, and online. Their maker roster is constantly evolving, so be sure to check back frequently to see new items currently available for sale.
  • Make It Yourself. If you look up “Ohio crafts” on Pinterest, you’ll be able to find a ton of projects that you can do on your own for handmade (and truly unique) Buckeye State swag. Whether you’re a master crafter or new to the art of making things yourself, you’ll be able to find project instructions varying in skill levels available online.
  • Etsy. Etsy is a great place to check for a wide variety of state memorabilia while supporting artists and creators. You can browse Etsy’s marketplace to find practically anything Ohio-related, including art and collectibles, home and living products, clothing, jewelry, accessories, and even furniture with an Ohio flair.
  • Travel. Get to know the state up close and personal by hitting the pavement and collecting merchandise that you find on your travels. Tourist attractions and smaller local shops are a great source of state memorabilia. This is probably the most enjoyable way to find things to decorate with because you’ll also have a fun story to go with them.

No matter how you decide to collect your decorations, the most important thing to keep in mind is to decorate your home with things that you love. If you happen to love the Buckeye State, then letting that shine through in your home decor is a great way to show it. Supporting independent creators, supporting local businesses, making it yourself, or going on an epic road trip are all excellent ways to snag the perfect finds for your abode.
