For many homebuyers, the images of a dream home come into focus from simple acts like paging through a magazine or taking a walk through a historic neighborhood. Not everyone can define the names of the styles that appeal most to them, but they can identify with the sense of “home” they feel when they find the right style for their future house.
New Hampshire resident John Miller experienced this as his family fell in love with the feeling of a classic Craftsman Bungalow, but needed a home that fit a 21st Century family’s life. Working with Dale Mulfinger of SALA Architects in Minneapolis, they arrived at a design that respected the spirit of the original Craftsman Bungalow aesthetic and incorporated high quality modern building materials, such as Andersen A-Series windows and doors. Building materials were carefully selected to support the attention to detail and quality that old world craftsmen would appreciate. John and Dale share their project experiences in the video below.
Whether you want to upgrade your current home or want a specific style presented in a new construction project, understanding the style and the key characteristics of the house that define it will help you bring what you love most about home style to life.
