toolbox How to Find the Right Contractor for Your Home Project

Tis the season for home projects

With spring comes the need to make improvements to your home. It’s like clockwork. As soon as the weather starts to get warmer my wife instinctively reminds me that there’s mulch that needs to be bought, grass seed needs to be laid and a dozen other projects around the house. Being the not-so-handyman that I am I often have to call on some contractors to do work, but picking the right one is no easy task.

The video below gives you some simple tips to choosing the right contractor for your project. I’ve watched this video several times and used some of this info to pick someone to do landscape work. Another good idea is to contact your local Coldwell Banker real estate office and see if they have some preferred contractors they can recommend. If anyone knows who the best contractors are in your area, it’s your local Coldwell Banker office who probably call on contractors on a regular basis to help get homes ready for sale.

I actually did this recently when my wife insisted that it was time for us to get our house painted. I exchanged emails with the manager at a local Coldwell Banker office, Jerry Jacob, and he gave me a bunch of references for painters. But the best part is he gave me some insight on each of the contractors. What kind of work they’d done before, feedback he’d gotten on them and which one he thought would be my best bet. So I called the one’s Jerry recommended and then used some of the tips in the video below to help me narrow it down.

Home improvement projects are a big undertaking and you want to make sure you’ve got the right person to help enhance the place where you live. Take a look at the video below to learn some helpful tips on how to find the right contractor for your home project:
