A Veteran’s Day Tribute to our Homegrown Heroes

Today, we wanted to take the opportunity to recognize all of the homegrown heroes who dedicated their lives to protecting the sacred place we call home.

Home. It’s a safe place. A refuge. Today, as we observe Veteran’s Day, we wanted to take the opportunity to recognize all of the homegrown heroes who dedicated their lives to protecting the sacred place we call home.

We asked our network to submit photos of the veterans in their families.  Below is a Veteran’s Day tribute to our homegrown heroes. Thank you for your service and dedication.

"This is my Son Richard M. Rossetti - he is an active Marine stationed in Quantico, VA as an Air Traffic Controller. This Veterans Day I would like to send out a special thank you to him and all servicemen and women for their service and the sacrifices they make every day for this great country!"

"Rob Guzzo was honestly the funniest and most loving person I have ever met. There was nothing he could not do, from football to hockey to acting in movies. Rob had and still has more friends then anyone I know, if you met Rob you loved him from the first moment you met him! If he was your friend, he was your friend forever. I have never been treated with so much respect and unconditional love as I was when I with Rob. I miss him. Immediately after the attacks on the 9/11 Rob Guzzo Jr. decided to become a Navy SEAL and personally fight terrorism to protect all of us. He served in Iraq and Afghanistan. Sadly, while in Iraq a bomb exploded next to Rob’s head and he suffered a turmeric brain injury and also PTSD after he came home from the War. Rob never let on how hurt he was and he made sure everyone in his life was happy and taken care of. However, on Veterans Day 2012, it all became too much for even Rob to endure and he took his life after suffering silently with PTSD and TBI. Now his family and friends do their best to help raise awareness for PTSD and TBI. Rob is survived by his 3 children, Jean Mae Guzzo, Kylee Guzzo and Robert Gage Guzzo; and his mohter Robin Anderson Guzzo and father Robert Guzzo Sr. My quote about Rob from the day I met him is: 'I just met an Angel on Earth' Love Always." - Holly Fetherlin, Coldwell Banker Real Estate
