A Veteran’s Day Tribute to our Homegrown Heroes
Today, we wanted to take the opportunity to recognize all of the homegrown heroes who dedicated their lives to protecting the sacred place we call home.
Home. It’s a safe place. A refuge. Today, as we observe Veteran’s Day, we wanted to take the opportunity to recognize all of the homegrown heroes who dedicated their lives to protecting the sacred place we call home.
We asked our network to submit photos of the veterans in their families. Below is a Veteran’s Day tribute to our homegrown heroes. Thank you for your service and dedication.

“My Dad’s twin brother (my uncle), Mitchell Lee, served in the US Army. He is now an active supporter of Ride2Recovery, a veteran’s organization dedicated to restoring hope and purpose through cycling-based programs. I’m so proud of the work he does, fundraising for this fantastic organization and riding hundreds of miles with his team.” – Victoria Keichinger, Brand Engagement Manager, Coldwell Banker Real Estate LLC
“Here’s a photo of my grandmother’s brother Lorenzo, who was part of the “Borinqueneers”, who were mostly an all volunteer group of about 65,000 Puerto Ricans from the island who fought in WWII and the Korean War. He was killed during the Korean War.” – Gustavo Gonzalez, Consumer Engagement Manager, Coldwell Banker Real Estate LLC
“Rob Guzzo was honestly the funniest and most loving person I have ever met. There was nothing he could not do, from football to hockey to acting in movies. Rob had and still has more friends then anyone I know, if you met Rob you loved him from the first moment you met him! If he was your friend, he was your friend forever. I have never been treated with so much respect and unconditional love as I was when I with Rob. I miss him. Immediately after the attacks on the 9/11 Rob Guzzo Jr. decided to become a Navy SEAL and personally fight terrorism to protect all of us. He served in Iraq and Afghanistan. Sadly, while in Iraq a bomb exploded next to Rob’s head and he suffered a brain injury and also PTSD after he came home from the war. Rob never let on how hurt he was and he made sure everyone in his life was happy and taken care of. However, on Veterans Day 2012, it all became too much for even Rob to endure and he took his life after suffering silently with PTSD and TBI. Now his family and friends do their best to help raise awareness for PTSD and TBI. My quote about Rob from the day I met him is: ‘I just met an Angel on Earth’ Love Always.” – Holly Fetherlin, Coldwell Banker Real Estate
“Mark Matzeldelaflor served with Rob Guzzo (above) on SEAL Team 5 and was his roommate after they came back from the war. Mark is so intelligent and I am not just saying that, I mean he genius level intelligence. Mark has successfully started several businesses since coming home. He also works hard to help others along the way and he loves animals. Mark still protects all of us on private missions when he is not running his companies. We are all lucky to have Mark in our lives.” – Holly Fetherlin, Coldwell Banker Real Estate
“Mike is one of my best friends and always makes me laugh. While in the military, Mike was a Hospital Corpsman and Combat Medic, he was on the front lines saving soldiers lives in field. It is so amazing to me the terrible things he has seen yet he is the most loving and kind person you will ever meet. I am proud to know him and have him protecting us. I want to thank all three of these men and all our Veterans for being so selfless and for protect all of us and give us the amazing lives we have. Thank you for all you do every single day. We love you back.” – Holly Fetherlin, Coldwell Banker Real Estate
