Monday, we announced the first ever Coldwell Banker #HomeRocks Awards where we are highlighting the best songs about home over the course of the last year.
Today we continue the series and take a look at Sheryl Crow’s 2013 song, Homesick from her album Feels like Home.
Upon reading the refrain of homesick,
“I turn the key, open up the door
I sit my suitcase down on the hardwood floor
And I call your name, and I climb the stairs
Then I realize that you’re not there
And I get homesick
I get homesick
I get homesick
For anywhere but home”
I was reminded of the quote, “What I love most about my home is who I share it with.”
It is clear Sheryl understand the deep connection between home and who we share it with. From her lyrics you can tell that her home is not what it was once without the one she loves. Without the people, memories and emotions that are part of home, then all we are left with is a pile of wood, furniture and appliances.
Despite the sad lyrics, I believe anyone who has experienced longing for the one they love can relate to this beautiful song. Do you believe Homesick should win our first ever Home Rocks Award?

I love Cheryl Crow but she’s homesick for anywhere but home. That’s not what we want to portray when trying to find a song about home. Who picked this one for the vote?
Is it saying …she isnt home sick at home? Isnt that a good thing? I may b a bit confused
Warm here, too. My favorite line, "You act like you're in control even when you're not." A fairly common trait among psisgolohycts, at least in my circle.
