Bohemian is a unique and unconventional yet very elegant style that is often associated with a way of dressing yourself with clothes, but it can also apply to dressing up your home decor. Philadelphia is a city that’s very much influenced by bohemian style, artists, and designers, so you should have a relatively easy time finding bohemian bedroom ideas for your home. Your bedroom is a good place to start since that’s the room you probably spend the most time in at home.

One of the simplest and most beautiful ways to add a bohemian look to your bedroom is to adorn it with floor sweeping linens. Boho style calls for lots and lots of pretty fabric. First, place a canopy over your bed with long white or pastel sheer linens that extend at least two or three inches past the floor. Add matching sheer linen drapes to the windows. When you open the windows and let the breeze flow in, with sunshine beaming into your bedroom, the loose fabrics will blow in the wind and add a beautiful energy to the room.
Colorful Accents
When you decorate your bedroom in a bohemian style, use plenty of color. It’s okay to be bold with your use of color, venturing into exciting shades of orange, purple, turquoise, and pink. Everything from your lampshade to the comforter on your bed should be a bright, bold color or creative pattern. You don’t have to worry about matching or coordinating colors — unusual color combinations are welcome in your bohemian bedroom. Beads, Feathers, Flowers, and Trinkets
Another attribute of bohemian style is liberally accessorizing your outfits with jewelry and similar accouterments. Use that idea when decorating your boho bedroom. Decorate with long strings of beads, rhinestones, feathers, dreamcatchers, and unique flowery creations. Place candles of varying shapes, sizes, and colors throughout the room. Spend plenty of time at craft and art fairs in the Philly area finding new items to add to your bedroom.
Bigger is Better
In boho style, bigger is almost always better — big hoop earrings, big shirts, and big scarves. So when you’re looking for furniture and other decorative pieces to place in your bohemian bedroom, choose oversized items. For instance, look for a large ornamental mirror that nearly extends from the ceiling to the floor. Get a California king-sized bed that’s so big you almost feel like you could get lost in it. Look for paintings that are 20″ x 24″ or larger for your walls.
Once your bohemian bedroom is complete, it will probably become a little bit of a sanctuary for you — a home within your home. Use it as a place to relax, create, and seek inspiration.
