I Want a Gutter Cleaning Robot

I love the fall season, but I also hate it. Raking leaves, seeding your lawn and worst of all cleaning your gutters are all regular occurrences. I can't stand cleaning my gutters. I'm not afraid of heights, but I've seen enough episodes of America's Funniest Videos to know that they're an accident waiting to happen.

I love the fall season, but I also hate it. Raking leaves, seeding your lawn and worst of all cleaning your gutters are all regular occurrences. I can’t stand cleaning my gutters. I’m not afraid of heights, but I’ve seen enough episodes of America’s Funniest Videos to know that they’re an accident waiting to happen.

So for a while I’ve debated about what to do with my gutters. Do I buy one of those gutter shields/helmets/coverings? Do I suck it up and climb a ladder? Or do I do what it is customary and find someone else to do it for me? How about I just get a Droid to do it for me? Like an R2D2 for my gutters. Yes, it’s actually available.

I have not tested the product out for myself, nor have I spoken with someone who has, but I got to tell you this intrigues me. We all know robots will eventually take over our homes (thank you Ray Bradbury), but this seems pretty useful. Just put the little iRobot Looj gutter cleaner in your gutter and then use the remote control to send it across your rooftop to clear out the gutters.

i know what you’re thinking. A remote control robot for doing chores? Yes, that sounds pretty fantastic.

The iRobot Looj isn’t cheap. It retails for $299, but if it could make Star Wars sound effects while it blasts away leaves, I might just have to get one.

So between the iRobot Looj and the iRobot Roomba, I will be on my way to creating my own Droid army for my home chores.

  1. Just get a gutter guard system! I actually just had my gutter guard system installed! Other homeowners should consider this sort of purchase. Its a great investment, especially since I live here on the east coast. The weather can be sunny one day, and hurricanes the next! My husband no longer has to climb or complain about climbing on a ladder to clean the gutters! But that would be quite interesting having R2D2 do them! Funny article nonetheless!

  2. Thanks for sharing such an imaging post with us. I became a huge fan of you.
I have a confusion. Can you clear it for me? There are may gutter cleaning tools available in the market. So can you suggest me to best gutter cleaning tools.
