Is there a greater sound than a baby’s belly laugh? That uncontrollable burst of pure joy that echoes loudly from the tiniest of human beings is infectious, and I’d bet that most of these hysterical moments that you can remember happened within the confines of a home.

The sound of laughter ringing through the halls of home is one of the sweetest sounds, and home is the place where you can laugh freely. Siblings can laugh at their own flaws and past mistakes. Couples can laugh at the awkwardness of their early dating years. Friends can laugh at the fact that you used to wear that ridiculous hairstyle.

At home laughter can be found almost anywhere. It emerges with stories at the dinner table, giggles in the fort made of pillow cushions, the recounting of tales around the fire pit in the backyard or with trips down memory land while flipping through photo albums in the living room. You can never predict when laughter will fill your home, but you know the chances increase when loved ones are near.

The ad embedded below that we call “Laughing Baby” (we marketers are original with our naming techniques) is a perfect example of how laughter can fill a home with joy even over the simplest of things – like ripping a piece of paper. When I first saw this ad it reminded me of a moment at my parent’s vacation home where my second son, Wyatt, could not stopping laughing at my dad making a pop sound with his mouth. You could feel his unbridled laughter echoing from deep in his chest. It was such pure joy that even when he stopped laughing, my wife, my mom, my dad and me kept going.

Then it also reminded me of how whenever my mom would pulls out this one photo of my dad it will immediately send my mom and me into complete hysteria just thinking about it. I’m laughing about it right now, and if my mom reads this she knows exactly the photo I’m talking about and will start laughing as well.
